It happens all the time...In Canada people call themselves Native too when they are both Native and Caucasian because for some reason it's now the "in" thing to be Native and they tend to identify more with what they see as the benefits of being Native such as not paying tax etc. then the actual heritage end of who they really are...
These are the same people who 30 years ago were calling themselved Caycasian because it was shameful to be Native because there was sooooo much discrmination etc...So I guess my point is...those who don't recognize all parts of who they are often use whatever part will benefit them the most...HMMMMMMMMM...I think that says alot about a person!!!!!!!!
