Great idea for a thread! ! !
I'll take this opportunity to brag about my 2 sons.
My eldest son (he's 40 yrs) is the one who cares for me, becuz I am unable to work, he pays my utilities, cable & internet bills, he also contributes to my groceries. He is single. never been married, just hasn't found Ms. Right yet. He is a kind and gentle person who absolutely loves animals. That's why he works at a zoo. He works in the animal exhibit dept, he helps create and build the habitats for the animals. He is also an artist, likes to spend his leisurely time drawing & sketching.
My younger son lives in northern Nevada, (he is 37 yrs old), married to a wonderful woman, has given me four beautiful grandchildren (1 boy & 3 girls) ranging in age from 11 yrs to 8 mos. He is a Sgt. at the Nevada State Prison & from what I've seen in some documentries on TV it is a very dangerous job. He is the more adventerous of the 2. He like to hunt & fish, go four wheeling, camping & outdoorsy stuff. All with his family.
I find it ironic that one works with caged animals and the other works with caged humans.
In any case, they are mine and I am very proud of both of them, and love them with all my heart and soul.

Especially so, since you allude to the fact that the one who works with "caged humans" loves the outdoors and spends much time there and the one who works with "caged animals" does seem to care much for the outdoors.
Personally, I don't think I could ever work at a job which didn't allow me contact with the outside - Even if it's only through the windshield of a truck, or while securing and tarping a load in the rain.

Sounds Wonderful... It is great to see a mother whos work and determination shows in her children... and to see the family spirit continueing in the children leaves such a good feeling.

I can remember when I was about 7, walking around town picking up (galss) pop bottles, were worth 5 cents each, taking them to the small (house size) corner store and buying cracker jacks.
The extremely old man that ran the place was always so tickeld to see the small kids! miss those days
We used to go door to door pulling our little red wagon, and usually collected enough bottles to go to the saturday afternoon matinee, I hadn't thought of that in years!

Morning Eric!
Morning
memories of a childhood and a local store... who would have ever thought it could mean so much.
the generation of kids now do not know what they are missing... just the simple pleasures.
nothing so small as gettin a piece of super bubble from the shop keeper could have meant so much except through a small cjilds eyes...
kissmedeeply: I remember when we as kids used to go to the store and get a bag full of penny candies..the store was called Smiths..I Miss them times...Love you Eric
Yep...gotta miss the good ol pennie candy...Now I don't think you can buy anything for a penny!!!!!!

Penny candy... what a wonderful time as a child... and a candy bar was like Gold Bullion bars
I remeber the little wax candy that was shaped like coca cola bottles, and sweet tarts...
I just wished my own children could experience what a treat it really was ...just the simplest of things.
I never recieved an allowance so that's how I made money when I was a kid, collecting bottles. It soon evolved to mowing lawns, shovelling snow, fixing bikes and so on.....I've been working my butt off since I was 10! All that mattered then was a bag of red licorice, Coca Cola and BMX bikes.
