Someone high as a kite happy one moment...and before you know it they are looking for razor blades....Their mood swings alter from one extreme to another and can be anti social and withdrawn... Doom, gloom and glass always half empty Gilly....don't date them whatever you do!!! If so hide your ropes, razorblades, prescription drugs, pistols and sleep with one eye open at all times...

hi zara ! thanks for joining the thread !
how interesting !...how do they get like that then ?
do you know anybody thats a manic depressive ?...and whats the cure ?
Yes I foolishly dated one for some time...I did not know at first he had a problem as he hid it well but at times he would behave really down and peculiar. I thought it was just problems he was having but they never seemed to go away!!! That was exactly the problem, he could not deal with anything and become at times suicidal...In the end I run before I totally lost my sanity and realised I couldn't help him, no-one could!!
It really does your headin because their mood can switch from elation, grandose notions, to depressed cycle and their behavior can socially be embarassing.
It can be caused by inheritance, or the onset can occur after a serious loss..i.e relationship breakdown, death etc. etc.
Well this guy did not take any meds..just gallons of gin and whiskey...phew!!!

There are many people living and functioning well with manic depression(bi-polar disorder) once the right medication regime is found for them. Unfortunatly what can happen is that when they are feeling well they can feel that they dont meed the meds and stop taking them, this will then lead to a dip in mood and a depressive episode

Yes very true...what is worse when they refuse to aknowledge a problem and that depression is treatable because of the stigma attached.
The guy I dated thought a gallon of alcohol and marijuana would 'fix' him. The sad thing is without meds they are vulnerable and often need a co-dependancy

You're absolutely right Vonney, my experience is when they've come off their meds....so I can only really speak from that perspective if, at all....

Is a much misunderstood (intentionally I think in some cases)idea that alcohol and hash can help, when alocohol is in fact a depressent and hash can cause anxiety.

hi gilly
Alcohol gives a false high which only lasts a short while, lots of people feel down the day after a session (boozers gloom) if it had been invented now we would probably need a prescription for it lol
