I visit the museums where ever I travel. Having always wanted to see the Pieta and the Mona Lisa. I was able to see them both. I was a little disappointed in the Mona Lisa. It was much smaller than I thought and was embedded in a wall! But I think that if you travel and not stop at the museums, you miss so much of the beauty of the country's history!!

Most poignant museum I've been to would be where the Newfoundland Regiment went over the top in 1916 at the battle of the Somme, the Newfoundland government brought the land and preserved it, visit it, stand and feel the atmosphere and thank the poor souls that went over the top.

The Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia...
Mostly to look at the art collection and the palace itself, amazing place!

It may be one of the most well known...but I think the Smithsonian is the best known and the biggest!! I was raised in the shadow of Independence Hall so I saw it everyday!!
