I have a gold satin box that my daughter brought out this evening. It contains my collection of gloves. They are mostly from the 1930's, 40's, and 50's. And most were given to me by my mother. I have church gloves, and kidskin driving gloves, evening gloves that come just below the elbow, just above the elbow, and almost to the shoulder.
My most prized pair is a pair that my grandmother crocheted for my mother when my mum was a girl. They have a buttlerfly on the back of the hand and are lovely.
I also have a collection of old hats from the 1920's to the 60's.

I am so far away from materialism, I'm surprised I haven't shaved my head....that's the only thing in my life I have more than 2 of.....
and don't take that wrong...I come from a long line of collectors, and I am the black sheep of the family...

thats gorgeous...I am sure it is the treasure of your mother that makes them so special..
no only collect the odd parking ticket but my grandmother collects teapots of all things.
I also collect teapots, Zarah. I have several, again, from my mom and the most special of that collection, which is rather small, is one that my mom had that had belonged to my grandmother.
I only collect those things, and they don't take up a lot of space. It's isn't like my house is crowded with collectibles.
But, yes, Cy, I love those old things from the 20's to the 60's. Simple elegance.
I used to collect egg cups but gave them away to my daughter when she moved out. Also gave away nearly everyting I could lay my hands on that constituted clutter, so at last, kids gone, house tidy.
i collect old coins replicas all kinds when my dad past he left me his well most of his collection and also i collect those mint cars the 1934 ford or model t's i have alot but not forsale just to pass along to my kids when and if i have any! hey danna good to talk to you! miss you friend

OOOHHH!!! I'm just drooling at your glove collection. I've worn opera-length gloves for a black-tie affair several years ago. I felt like a queen. I love Victorian and vintage things and have a very soft spot for that period of time in history.
I collect horse bridles of any sort, horse memorabilia, Old West windmills and figurines of them (There's just something so timeless ,yet peacefull about them. Like they've seen it all and still blow on in the wind),stuffed toy teddy bears, angel figurines (pins, earrings, etc..) stuffed toy wolves and anything wolf related along with anything that has to do with cats and dogs.

The gloves are lovely. I also have some old evening purses. My daughter watched Titanic tonight and put on this full black evening skirt I have. I wouldn't let her wear my gloves but did let her take one of the handbags.
Maybe I'll wear those Opera-length gloves one day. I hope so. It's kind of a neat and unusual collection.
I have 2 coats from the 40's-50's era that are cashmere / wool with the mink collars. Also have a mink muff and a mink head scarf. My cousin is still trying to get them from me. She collects vintage clothes.

Oh, Artythis, that sounds like a wonderful collection. I would love to have that! I have bookcases in every room of my house.
I collect Comics, though to be honest I haven't bought one in years. OK in fairness I collect toys, guess I never grew up I haven't bought to many lately except the robotic ones that dance or sing, I have a thing for gagets. I do hunt the matchbox and hotwheels everytime I'm in a store, but I only buy Corvettes, I have about 9 that look like mine.
I love Angel and Bride and Groom figurines, odd or old coins, some cookbooks-usually older ones, certain novels by specific authors, and Lord love a duck, I absolutely -love- jewelry...I've quite a collection...
