Mr. Gilly, Why are so many of your threads involving colour, race etc? It is forbidden and it almost seems as though you are trying to bait someone. You at least seem to be obsessed with it. Please stop it. This is the last time I will probably respond to you.
We need more African Films... film is a good way to get potitical and social messages accross.. artistic freedom.. also being that Africa is such an astoundingly beautiful country it would be a good way for it to exploit its resources in a profitable but non pervasive way...
Ireland has done that to lucrative effect.. introduced tax breaks to filmakers and opened up studios... our film industry has benefited and the economy has benefited....
As to the first part... I love European Cinema (French, Spanish).. Irish Film is getting really hot also

Indyfella: Rent it from blockbuster
now you're talking indy !...you're still talking film my freind ! and being able access film... you're the only one that actually mentioned the name of a film tonight
i spend the evening talking about the african filmmaking industry with a very talented african filmmaker freind of mine in my class at college tonight ! when i joked and said you people should be banned from making films ...the conversation got vey interesting indeed !
i actually like the african filmmaking industry and their acttitude to making cheao budget films where the story is more important than the quality of the film !
nollywood ( films made in nigeria )! is one of the fastest growing filmmaking industries in the world !
films for the people... made by the people and put straight onto national tv and is more available on the internet and in video hire shops than per money spent per miniute than bolleywood and hollywood because
1. of how cheap it was make ( you can make a full length 90 miniute feature film thats acceptible in the cinema and on tv for less than 10,000 english pounds
2. the ' reality ' of african films are always more real ...gritty ...and enjoyable... to watch more than a lot films made by other nationalities
3. why ? ..because REALITY IS THE KEY TO IT ALL.... INSTEAD OF THE GLAMOUR AND EXPENSE
4. THE AFRICAN FILM INDUSTRY GIVES MORE ORDINARY PEOPLE A CHANCE TO BECOME MOVIE STARS THAN ANY OTHER INDUSTRY !
5. THE AFRICAN FILM INDUSTRY GIVES ORDINARY PEOPLE MORE CHANCE TO BECOME SUCCESFULL FILMMAKERS THAN ANY OTHER FILM INDUSTRIES
6. WHY BECAUSE THE EMPHASIES IS NOT ON QUALITY ...BUT ON CONTENT.
7. THE BRITISH AMERICAN AND SOME EUROPEAN FILM INDUSTRIES SIMPLY DO NOT WORK IN THE SAME WAY
8. EVEN IF YOU'RE LUCKY ENOUGH GO GET THE FILM MADE FOR ANYWHERE NEAR THAT KIND OF MONEY QUALITY CONTROL WILL STOP THE FILM BEING SHOWN ON TELEVISION OR DISTRIBUTED IN THE CINEMA!
9. THATS IF YOU'RE LUCKY ENOUGH TO EVEN BE ABLE TO GET ANYWHERE NEAR A DISTRIBUTION DEAL FOR YOUR FILMS
10. THE STORIES IN AFRICAN FILMS ARE ALWAYS MORE ' KITCHEN SINK' NEARER TO THE HEART AND MORE BELIEVABLE THAT MAINSTREAM HOLLYWOOD FILMS
11. HOLLYWOOD WOULD NEVER ACCEPT BOLLYWOOD TYPE FILMS BECAUSE THEY ARE GLAMOUROUS AND EXPENSIVELY MADE GOOD ENOUGH TO BE SHOWN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AS FAR AS THEY'RE CONVERNED .
12 IF YOU WERE TO SPEAK TO CERTAIN HOLLYWOOD EXECUTIVES THEY WOULD EVEN ENTERTAIN THE IDEA OF MAKING A NOLLEYWOOD TYPE FILM AND WOULD BANNED FROM FROM EVEN TALKING ABOUT THEM MUCH LESS MAKE THEM AND GIVE YOU A DISTRIBUTION DEAL !
13. THEY WOULD SAY " SORRY BUDDY IT SIMPLY AIN'T GOOD ENOUGH ...WE CAN'T GIVE BRUCE WILLIS 15 MILLION DOLLARS TO STAR IN SOMETHING LIKE THIS...WOULD YOU MIND LEAVING PLEASE...HAVE A NICE DAY "
14. AND LETS LOOK AT ' THE STAR SYSTEM ' IN BOTH HOLLYWOOD AND BOLLYWOOD FILMS AS OPPOSE TO NOLLYWOOD FILMS
BY THE WAY INDY AS A FILM STUDENT I CAN'T WAIT TO STUDY WORLD CINEMA LEVEL 2 AT UNIVERSITY... AND THE IRANIAN FILM INDUSTRY AS WELL !!
BECAUSE IRAN IS SUPPOSE TO HAVE SOME OF THE WORLDS GREATEST WOMEN FILMMAKERS
......I'LL CARRY ON TALKING ABOUT IT LATER ..BUT WELL DONE FOR TALKING ABOUT ' FILM ' MY FREIND...AND I LOOK FORWARD TO YOU TELLING ME ABOUT THE FILM 'WHITE MEN CAN'T JUMP '
AND HAVE YOU NOTICE THAT A LOT OF THE VIDEO RENTAL SHOPS ARE CLOSING DOWN NOW ... AND THAT REALITY FILMMAKING FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE IS SLOWLY TAKING OVER `
15 THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT IS ALSO WORTH TALKING ABOUT !
