smoky: I had a friend born in the twenties, lived in Italy ..... and they never had things like Fleece or Thermal jackets, or snow boots/gloves - just a vest, cotton shirt, and regular jacket and normal walking/school shoes. Said they stuffed their shirts with straw and newspapers, and their shoes with newspapers and cardboard, to keep warm!!!! And their mamas gave them Zabaglioni to drink before setting off for school in the snow!!!! Wow, what a tough breed grew up in THOSE years?!!!
Well,I wouldn't feel the Cold either after about Half a Cup of Marsala Wine!!!rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

Yeah, I just saw some old black and white photos of the Old Days here in my village .... of when the Church Bell arrived and the entire town went to the station to welcome it ... it was loaded onto a wagon and all the little children posed around it... Short pants, normal jackets, the little girls in Skirts! And everyone had their hands in their pockets! They must have FROZE in those days! These days the kids are so thermal clad they can hardly walk! grin
