Beauty is unbearable, drives us to despair, offering us for a minute the glimpse of an eternity that we should like to stretch out over the whole of time. The ideals which have lighted me on my way and time after time given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. . . . The ordinary objects of human endeavor -- property, outward success, luxury -- have always seemed to me contemptible. The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious - the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science. Some people see you as an object, not as a person, and they project a set of expectations onto you. People who don't have to think beauty is a blessing, but actually it sets you apart.

The friendship between a man and a woman which does not lead to marriage or desire for marriage may be a life long experience of the greatest value to themselves and to all their circle of acquaintance and of activity; but for this type of friendship both a rare man and a rare woman are needed. Perhaps it should be added that either the man or the woman thus deeply bound in lifelong friendship who seeks marriage must find a still rarer man or woman to wed, to make such a three cornered comradeship a permanent success. Friendship marks a life even more deeply than love. Love risks degenerating into obsession, friendship is never anything but sharing. The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention…. A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words.

Thanks, it was just little thoughts that came to mind. We all are good listeners, the question really is do we really listen or do we act as if we are to suit the other?

I've always been a good listener but I will admit that there have been times where I have let it go through one ear and out the other. I don't do it anymore because I realize that it's important and sometimes through listening we learn more about people than we truly realize through expressions and body language.

:) Thanks ladies.

Those were little thoughts here and there that developed over a course of three months and finally decided to combined them into something more than little sentences. I think of things like that when I'm out walking around or at the park. It's interesting what you think about when your out walking or taking a breather.

Through listening, we can learn more about ourselves as well. I love to listen to the thoughts and realities of others. I can always connect it with some other concept in my objective or subjective reality...depending on the topic.
I rarely react and say anything to suit the other individual....I have my reality and people will know about it. Even if my truth goes against their immovable truth.
I hope you are not working in sales....laugh

No but I have worked in sales before. I'm a graphics specialist. But you're absolutely right, we do learn more about ourselves and the realities of others.
