Hi all,

If you were in a park and someone (around your age) came to you and said 'Hi, can i flirt with you?'. What would be your response to that person?

If they were of the same gender, I would immediately but gently disabuse them of their inclination. Of the opposite, it would depend upon the obvious filters we all have in place, though our criteria may be highly individual. But I welcome directness from women and welcome 'agression' to that degree. It shows boldness, self-directedness and interest, all attributes that I love to see in women.

I would be in total chock. Not very common in a park. As a matter of fact I´ve only been "picked up" twice and in a situation with a lot more intoxication. If I´m single though, it would be welcomed and at least I could get a nice chat out of it.

Ooopps! Thanks for the reminder, 'vist. I was thinking of being in an 'unattached' condition. This was a hypothetical situation, after all.

the REAL expertise need not be so contrived, although i would smile at the audacity, i would dismiss the gesture lightly.

what is the chemistry , i find more interesting...how we are so directed by our systems on so many levels and then there is the ego , ooooo she is so willing to show off and let's face it our ego's get fed enough as it is, no use feeding mine more.

but if in that moment, something so chemical and revealing connects???

i would caution...

do you dare??

;^)

It's no different to being approached in a bar or dance, if you like the look of them and the words they use, I would talk to them.

It is so much easier for women to approach a man then a man approach a woman in the park.......I have found my grandkids make great ice breakers and I appear less threatening.....
Once I just said hello and the woman screamed so loud that nearby people came running to her aid..... what an experience....never realized "excuse me" couod be misunderstood so many ways.

TabooN! I blush!

But it is so different between men and women on this point that it is difficult to really compare; men are 'expected' to hit on women, and seem to do it so often that women can and probably should pay little attention.

For women to do it is more unusual, and for me the unusual is more interesting. Audacious women are fascinating to me, even when the physical part is not acting, or not highly anyway.

Of course, the wording, 'can I flirt with you?' would be a bit strange and might be off-putting. Especially since in French it can mean something more than in English, and I don't think I'd be real receptive to that 'tout de suite'.

I'm not very good at 'flirting', and usually reason that a lady I'd be interested in probably has to put up with too much of that non-sense already. Alex's ego references are also well taken. Stroking may me nice, but it doesn't develop our best aspects, for the most part.

I think the boldness of the approach, 'can I flirt with you?' can be either exciting or off-putting... depending on your impression of the individual.

If it's from someone I find attractive, it would probably make my heart skip a beat. I would likely respond along the lines of, "Well, that depends... have you got more in mind than just batting your eyelashes at me?"

If it's from someone I don't find attractive (remembering that attraction is a completely relative and mostly individual thing) I would probably thank her for the compliment and make up an excuse for having to leave.
