Folks, I will be moving in a few weeks, and though I hate to, I need to find homes for my dogs.

I have an 8 yo full blodded Husky. She does have an auto-immune disease but has been in remission for 2 years. She's been with me for 6 years. She's independant, occasionally fussy and funny, and completely housetrained.

I have a 6 yo lab/golden retriever mix. She's black well-behaved and very sweet. She's very loving. She's also completely housetrained.

And I have a 3yo English Lab. He's yellow, beautiful, very sweet and loving. Total mamas boy. He's also completely housetrained.

They're all really well-behaved INSIDE dogs. All house-trained, Sweet dogs.

It breaks my heart to do this. It's been almost 20 years since I lived without a dog.

I want them to all have good homes. That's why I am first turning to some of the best people I know. All of you.

If you don't live too close, we could meet half-way.

Please help me. I need to find homes for them soon blues

I would if I could, but serously not able right now. Have you gone to the Rescue Sites for each breed? Often you get a better response there.

I would love to have a dog again, but you know why I cannot now.

I am so sorry you have to give up the dogs. I know you love them very much. Is there any way to keep them? If not all, but even one of them?comfort hug

I love dogs. Had a Siberian Husky up until about 6 months ago when she had to be put down.

Wish I could help...but~~

It sounds like maybe an eldery person might like older dogs...they tend to be more settled. (the dogs, not the people)

Maybe put an add in one of the grocery stores...along w/pics? dunno

I'd live in a tent too if it weren't for my daughter.

On what I bring in from the disability, I just can't afford this house anymore, and to find a house or apt to rent that would allow 3 dogs, or even 2, they're over most weight limits. I haven't been able to find a job that I can do - my back problems prevent a lot - in this area. Hopefully we'll have better luck after we move.

Bob, your idea is a good one about the older folks. My dogs are pretty settled, and would be good dogs for an older person. Except one, the lab mix, she's pretty strong, though she looks so thin and petite, even at her size.

Well, they're all sweeties. Losing my mamas boy is going to really kill me, though. I lost my wolf 8 years ago to cancer and haven't had one that I came close to loving as much as I did him until this little English Lab, Cooper.

Ok... I will visit it and also ask my vet friend. In fact, will ask the people I would trust with my own dogs. You never know! But seriously, check the rescue sites that go by breed. You find more luck and more interest there sometimes. I know it's heartbreaking! Been there myself just recently.

I understand Dana...It's the same here..finding apartments that will except pets are very few and far between so I can appreciate what you must be going through...I was fortunate enough to find the place I am in now that let me keep my dog...but there aren't many who will....I hope you find a good home for them to put your mind at ease a little bit at least!!!!!!!

Here's two other suggestions....

1) Contact your area horse farms and feed stores. Post a notice at the feed stores, too. People here are usually big-hearted animal lovers to begin with and often have the room for "one more."

2) If you want to keep the thread alive, consider renaming it to.... I'm a Republican

Any other ideas folks about where Dana could donate the dogs? Maybe to a battered women's shelter, or something like that?

One other thought is to contact your local vets.... Many times when people have to put their dogs down, it helps them to adopt one in need. It's a nice way to ease the pain and soothe the conscious. Plus, a vet referral is really helpful to some.
