I understand perfectly why they do this...Sadly, these are just some signs of the times we're now living in.

Many, many people are selfish and uncaring so have no respect or care for the countryside/planet whatsoever.

Also, we're living in a throwaway society, so these type of people just throw their rubbish away and couldn't care less who has to pick it up after them OR even if an animal injures itself from a broken bottle or jar.

not only do I recycle applause applause applause but I have never let my kids throw rubbish in the street

I have been known to tell other people and their kids for doing this LIKE I HOPE YOU ARE GOING TO PICK THAT UP
it's quite amazing to see how many people turn round and pick their rubbish up, once it is pointed out to themprofessor scold

I don't understand either - but on another rural road in Scotland whre I used to live I saw someone daily walking 12 miles picking up rubbish that had been dumped as he went. So there are a few responsible people around. applause

When I was a youth I thought that taking my litter home was uncool. Dropping litter showed that I wasn't frightened of police / park wardens / "do-gooders".

But then I grew up a bit and realised that I didn't like seeing other people's litter. So I stopped being a litter-bug.

This is a thought that i have had. What about a system that prints you club card number on the items that you perchance as it's swiped through the scanner in super markets. Something needs to be done. There is far to much packaging on some items, Biodegradable packaging would be a good idea. And one type of plastic would be a help a lot. Apparently there are quite a lot of different types of plastic, That's the hardest one to recycle because of different types.
