Indeed, but it does infuriate me that people do not read profiles, I like to read and I notice things like, whether they want chlldren or not, I do not want any more children, so therefore as much as I enjoy a profile, it would be wrong of me to introduce myself to a person who wants children.
The other thing I never get is why income is on the profiles.
My income is private, why would I disclose it?

....gold diggers are always a risk, you would think that much is clear to everyone....but at the same time, I have seen people on this site boasting about being millionaires!!....jeez, how stupid can you get??!!....why on earth would you want to advertise what you are worth??....it's like an invitation for trouble... you either earn people's envy, or their avarice....
On the other hand, an indication of someone's material standing in society does give you an indication of where they are on the social scale....birds of a feather fluck together as they say.....:-)...and wether you/they would be an apprpriate choice for them....

I do not think that income has a place on a dating site, ok there is an option not to disclose, but I do wonder why it is there in the first place. I feel it encourages people to lie.

I agree....it's a huge subject...if u think about it, most people put way more time into buying a pair of designer jeans, than putting together their profile...(like me...)...but surely, finding the right partner is probably the most important decision of your life......more important than buying a house, a car, or building that stock portfolio...nicht wahr?
...so if you are going to take the serious approach for a mo, and you would want all the tools available to focus your search on EXACTLY the type of person you are looking for....then I would argue that there would have to be some indicator of where you are on the financial food-chain....to some of us, it matters if their prospective partner is either the managing director of a cosmetics firm, or if she's the cleaner that goes into the cosmetics firm after 5, to put it bluntly....(no slight to cleaners....I am one...my own flat!)...
The other issue is.....if you are on a dating site with all these parameters, with profiles that have so many questions to fill out, it's worse than a tax form....at the end of the day,you're really launching a very focused search....
....the biggest complaint I've heard among my mates about online dating is....that it takes SO MUCH TIME!!!!....Sorry for shouting....

....and that's certainly not CS.....but then again, we're only here for the beer, right??....

I don't know why they don't read the profiles either.. the profiles show the basics of what you want and what you don't want, what you are looking for. For example, I want kids, why would someone write me who is undecided or doesn't want any. Or, if I am looking for a serous relationship and he is looking for fun, why write me
