of stupidity, or something. No way all this could come together at once, but it did. Let me tell you about my night last night.
Ok, first off I'm po-ed when I got off cause of something that happened totally beyond my control, had to do with not being able to check out a patient/customer cause of my supervisors inept scheduling abilities. And it had been a long stressful day due to dealing with the house stuff that morning. Anyways ...
I'm walking out to my truck, digging around in my bag for my keys, can't find em. Ok, this is 9:00 at night, at the far end of the parking lot, next to the bus stop, and on Friday nights it's a zoo out there, last night more so than usual. I look, sure enough, I locked my keys in the truck. D@mn! Ok, no prob, I have a spare. I do this regularly enough that I plan ahead on being stupid. Can't find the spare key. I keep it in my little makeup bag. Not there. Digging around in my big bag, can't find it in the dark. So I walk back so I can see, dump the whole thing out, not there. Another d@mn, I remember a few days ago doing this, I must've just stuck the spare in my lab coat pocket. Different lab coat, that one's laying on the front seat of the truck. Double d@mn.
Ok, back up plan, I have an extra at the house. I call my friend, very good friend I might add thank you Joy, and ask her to go by and get it and come get me. Oh thank god, I just had to go rescue her the other day, I don't feel so bad. I sit and wait, it's gonna be at least 45 min. Cell phone goes off, it's my house. She can't find it, it's not where I used to keep it. D@mn d@mn d@mn. Ok, she's coming to get me and bring me home, we'll figure the rest out before I have to go to work tomorrow. It's gonna be d@mn near 1100 before I get home. I go ahead and get groceries and stuff while I'm waiting, use my last check and get $20 cash, that's all they'll let you get.
Allrighty then, I'm home, have a couple drinks to chill out, get a good night's sleep, wake up this morning and after I've had a couple cups of coffee start trying to figure out a plan. My daughter has a spare key I think but she's not home. I call Joy, she's at work this morning, we're talking about events, yadda yadda, I'm like, well if worse comes to worse I can always get a locksmith to come unlock it, hate to do that and waste $40-50 but I've had to before. Oh yeah, she reminds me, I have no checks and no debit card. I'd misplaced it the other day and had to order a new one, that's why I'm outta checks. I never write checks anymore, was down to my last book and I've used them all up getting $20 cash. Crashboom, final element of the storm added, we're going under!
Not really, bright spots here. I found my extra key that I usually carry, it was in another bag. And the best part, I was trying to figure out how to get to work by 3 and I'm off today!
Now all I've got to worry about is if my truck's still there!

Indyfella: I can top that... I had 3 sets of keys to my car. All three sets were locked inside. (can we say, "stuck on stupid"
I've done that! That's why I had about half a dozen extras made and have them scattered everywhere! And couldn't get my hands on any of them last night!
