Hi everybody. I was just curious about this topic. My oldest Furbaby, Faith Marie, passed this morning around 2:AM. She would have been 21 yrs old on 14 November. Faithie was the best dog other than her adopted Mom, Luckie AnneMarie, that I ever had. Luckie was 16 when she died. Both were mixed breeds. Faithie was a White German Shepherd/Yellow Lab/Springer Spaniel mix. Luckie was a Belgian Shepherd/Doberman/Malamute and Husky mix.
I was expecting her to be passing. . . and now that it has happened, it still hurts more than I expected. She was not supposed to live much longer when she was 13 her body was riddled with tumors. The vet said to expect her to be gone before by the time she was 15. So I know, I was Blessed to have her way longer than she was supposed to be here.
I want to invite everybody to share their favorite Furbabies here, both the ones who have gone to be Angels in the Great Beyond, and the ones still traveling the Journey with us now.
my last dog was 3 yo when he had to be put down. Hopkins was an English Pointer, who suffered from uncontrolable epilepsy. No meds seemed to work and he got progressively worse, till I had to do right by him

I'm so sorry Ship. 3 is so young. This is not your Sammy is he? Is it the one you have not feeling well caption on? It is hard to put them down. Faithie was quite active right up to the end. As long as she was able to function, eat and enjoy herself, I put off the euthanasia and I'm glad I did she lived so long and enjoyed almost every minute of it. She was always right there 2@ the door on curled up next to me on the bed with the cats. But I do know how difficult it is to put them down. I'm so sorry you had to put down a 3y/o.
Sorry for your loss Cyndie. I had 2 dogs that lived til 16, both passed within 6 months of each other. I think the last one grieved so for the first one. I now have 3 cats....LOL. They were kittens when I adopted, 2 females and a male. Bless his heart - he lives with 3 females. He thinks he's the stud in the house (even tho he ain't got nothin to work with), and some days he irritates the hell out of all us. Gotta be a male thing, I guess. Anyway, we let him know that he lives under a daily threat of relocation! (not really.... )
We had 3 dogs and two of them had colon cancer and the 3rd one had kidney failure and we had to put them to sleep.
Thank-you, she was one of a kind. I'm sorry yours had colon cancer and kidney fauilure. Two of them with colon cancer, that is odd. Were they the same breed? I'm sorry you had to put any of them down. My Rivkah, a 6 y/o cat had complete kidney failure when she was one. Fortunately, the Vet was able to pull her through and I am grateful to this day.

Our vet told us the colon cancer was passed down through the parents genes.

Thank-you. I'm sorry for your loss of your dogs. I do know that sometimes when animals live together like that for years, the other does pine away. It is sad b/c you try to help them and sometimes they just won't let you. I had two rabbits about ten yrs ago. Silkie and SoftieLinig-Ling. Silkie was actually a baby abandoned by a former roommate. He was raised by Luckie. She spent hours with him laying between her paws while she groomed him. When he was about 7yrs old another friend gave me SoftieLing-Ling,(yes it was an asian friend). She was 6 mos old. They were together for 8 yrs. When Silkie died, Ling pined and refused to eat she only lived ~ 3mos past him.
Ah, yes those male cats can get airs. Pj and Zebulun do the same @ my house. Rivkah and Miriam keep those boys in line though. I'm almost positive Miri threatens them with relocation from how she looks when she is pinning their ears back. Lol.
I'm @ the library and they are getting ready to close, there is phone line problems so many of us loose our internet. Please all of you keep sending in your stories. They are helping.
We had a cat it was half tabbie and half bobcat, It died in the street my roomate saids that it decided it was his time but we have lost so many in the street. Heck what is broken in people that makes them want to run over a creature?
We named him Bunny he was a character, he was borne without a tail (wich caused him some health problems,,,, the muscle that wags the tail is also important in other body functions) It was humorous to see him plop down on his but like a human tho. He had four claws on his back feet but eleven on his front paws. I've seen him use those claws but when we got a new kitten and it pised him off he kept them retracted wile he slaped it and said some things that I even understood.
It's a pain to lose one but wile there here life is better.

Thanks Dennis. Sorry about your RARE cat being run down. People are sick. LOL Boy do I understand what you mean in how they talk to their younger generations. Miri does it all the time she has also been know to give the "finger" with her one claw up in the air. My miniature schnauser, Sarah used to go round and round with Miriam when she saw that cat do that. Now, she is 10 and Blind, can't see Miri do that any more but some times she takes a wild guess when Miri IS giving her the claw and she is usually right
