~~~Hi everyone I'm planning a trip to Greece in Nov. with my Sweetie, just wanted to ask your opinion on what you found to be the "Must see's". We're looking for an affordable, non-touristy locale with beautiful secenery and a true taste of the island and it's culture. Looking for the old world romance kinda thing
If you are looking for romantic scenery, head for Santorini. You know, it's rumored to have the most beautifull sunset of the whole world - and from what i've seen, the rumors are true.
I would suggest you contact the ever-elegant Jeffrey (Jlb684) - an American who lives in Greece - for a "good time"!
Seriously, she would doubtless have some great advice for you and your sweetie (someone you met here??), Tina
~~~Thanks I will contact her. No we didn't meet on here, but he was on for a short time when I was in the states (he thought it was fun to flirt with me here...silly fella)

Agreed...if you intend to go to more than one island, Mykonos and Ios are great too.

Seems to be a bit of this "double exposure" going around, doesn't it, T?
Hi, I would recommend a little Island called Samo! i spent 3 months there and didnt want to leave, great food beautiful scenery, and the people are just amazing, i am Greek but was born in OZ, and i would go back there at the drop of a hat. It's not one of the popular Islands, but that gives you the opportunity to get in amongst it with the locals. Good luck and have a great holiday to you both.
Mykonos is charming, but commercial........ beaches on the other side of the island offer alittle bit of something for the nudists.....
Santorini is also kinda commercialized too..... its a long jaunt up the hill from the harbor if you dont rent a mule ride.... the trip to the volcano caldera is kinda cool though..... we also took a taxi ride in the country that was fun... they have alot of vineyards there, so the scenery is wonderful....
I would recommend Crete.... there is a charming little port town called Bali where the wines are wonderful..... and you can hike the Samaria Gorge.....
Ios is wonderful as well.... nice little port town.... go to the Ios Club at sunset and listen to music as the sun dips below the Mediterranean...
No offense intended, but the greeks dont excel in math...... the bill that comes to the table is rarely accurate, and it never seems to be in your benefit...... Judge the restaurants you eat at my comparing the prices on the mousaka...... enjoy a glass of retsina for me....
