I believe in mariage myself.
The sad part is that when older, you lose a lot of money so that many seniors opt for living together.
When you are collecting Old age pension and your Canadian pension.
money will be deducted from both parners.teddybear

Who knows what the right answer is, For seniors? Yes, and taking into account Christian beliefs, again who knows. Really Holland, don't you think it is all just a crap shoot in a way...Maybe neither is the "right" choice. Maybe each keep their own place, have their own space, get together for your dates and sleep overswink. I might be on to something there - That might add to the longevity of the relationship; thus, the success and happiness applause Think about it....

Not too sure I'll ever get married, so it leaves either living together, or not.laugh

I believe in living together and then getting married (well if that is what you want of course. Not everyone wants to get married of course lol)

I personaly think it is hard to just answer the question till you are in that situation. kwim? Unless you are both in a commited and serious relationship only you both will know if you want to just live common law or get married etc...

cheers

Several couples living in my community, that I call my village, have found each other here.
Each live in their own home. Often the pics. from the passed on partner are all over the place.

I want to wake up every morning and find him there beside me.
The pics. have been removed and if I want to look at them I can.
I want the closeness a good relation ship brings.

I am sure you do, but most of thes folks have beem married to their partner for such a long time , that telling them to erase the memories, just will not work. Would you prefer to see the pics of his late wife Sue, or would you prefer him to call you Sue.....that slip up happens very often. I would suggest he keep something in an album , and when he wants to look at it he can....that's better than hiding it under the bed. wave

Oh dear! Maybe this is a good time as any to discuss this issue with your MP in your area.

Yes mychelle that is the problem when people have lived that long with one partner. I totally understand this.
Still when starting a new relationship the old must make room.
The spouses that have passed on will never be forgotten and no one is asking this.
But that part of my life is over no matter how sad this is as I had a very good mariage.
I know my sweetheart would want me to be happy as this is what he always tried to do, to make his Jenny happy. Always thinking of me first.

No I am sure he is not thinking this.
Some people have been hurt in former mariages
and now think that the next one will be bad too.
I just feel they just have not met the right one for themteddybear

Hhm ~ I'm thinking its more about making sure that WE are the right ones. What are we doing to develop ourselves to ensure that we are good marriage material? Seems that so often we blame others for failures and forget that we are responsible as well.
