To do something positive without feeling any social or psychological pressures.
Too much freedom isn't good however. Sometimes others know what is better for you. Freedom with out control is like a blind bird.

I forgot to add that I don't have a clue what could happen 10 yrs down the road whether it be for better or worse.
If our current leader and whomever takes over next January better get their heads out of their butts and start doing right by the people of this country or we won't have to worry about what could/will happen ten yrs from now.

I think it´s sadly lacking. What people don´t seem to understand is that if you want freedom you have to accept the responsibilities of your own actions. America seems to have become a place where no is responsible for anything anymore... there is always someone else you can sue or blame for the things that happen in your life and as long as people don´t accept responsibility there will be more and more rules and laws controlling what you do.
I live on a little island in the middle of the med and we have a tremendous amount of personal freedom here, but guess what... if you screw up you can´t sue anyone and you suffer the consequences... and I wouldn´t have it any other way.

Yep, and Canada is following along with the plan. Not many want to accept responsibilty for their own actions anymore, and never a shortage of people to try blame it all on.

And the govt loves that... because everytime someone wants the government or the law to deal with an issue they should accept responsibility for themselves they are giving up a little more of their freedom and allowing more govt. control. It gets so frustrating... I moved halfway around the world!

Someone once said ..as long as one person is not free, we are not a free nation. The U.S. is a great democracy, but it is not free. I would not want to live anywhere else, but there are too many civil liberties that are withheld.
But to answer the main question about how important is freedom; I value it so much that I will never get married again
