Coco,
I read your post. Didn't want to blow you off. I'm a mental midget with this stuff, but have you tried putting the disk in the drive and going to the start menu and hitting" run"dunno

No idea what the formatting on the disk (photo disk) is, but.......

Double click: Computer

Double click DVD/CD Drive (usually labelled) D:

Or Right click: Explore,

If you see the photos straight off, Go to the bar at the top on the window.. Click Edit, then click select all, now, right click in the middle of one of the photos (usually Jpegs) and choose the option copy all, back to the desktop, right click, choose new, choose new folder, name the folder, then right click on the newly named folder and choose paste, the photos "should" all then be copied to the new folder, right click on the folder again and at the bottom click "properties" now click the customise tab, in the drop down menu choose pictures as the folder type, now enter the folder with a right click and it to open the folder and you "should" see the slideshow option.

If its some proprietary format (the cd/dvd) then I dunno if I can help...

Have you tried windows support?

Have you posted your query on the internet?

I know all the Windows systems, except Vista, sorry I can't help. My years in pc's would direct me to ask the right questions for a fix.

If you saved photos and can't find them, you need basic computer assistance. Did you give them a name? Where did you save them? If you don't know, do a search. If you don't know how to search, you need a basic user manual.

It's not a Vista problem, it's a user problem.

Nope,RUN in the Startmenu is for COMMANDS!
You need to open MY COMPUTER and click and open the CD-DVD Drive that contains your CD.
It is hopefully still the same in VISTA as in XP.

WINDOWS VISTA======WINDOWS ME.

To transfer photos from optical disc, you need:
- Disc in the drive

- PC Turned on , OS loaded

- Identify what FORMAT the pics are saved
JPEG , BMP , TIFF , pf/pcd (Photo CD) , gif , etc

- Photo software on the computer -
Eg
Gimp -
Adobe Photoshop ,
Paintshop Pro
Dot Net Paint -

- Or you could try an image viewer like
xnview , it supports a huge amount
of picture/photo types and allows to
convert them to a different type
eg photo cd to jpeg

Also I suggest getting money back on Vista
and UPGRADING back to Windows XP

As an Hp user, my main drive is c:, back up is d:/, therefore, discs go in e:/ ...maybe.

It's not that hard. First, right-click start. Left click EXPLORE. Cick on the minus sign next to HP_C drive. That should shorten your menu.

Do you see on the CD drive? It may say CD Drive E:, or CD-RW Drive E:? That's where you will find your pictures on your disc.

Insert disc, push button and disc tray will slide in. Lights will flash, tray will engage and a selection on your pc should change color. Click it.

It will ask you what program you want. Choose a photo program to open the disc. If you don't have a photo program, you should be able to view pics through net. You will have to select something.

If your drive is different than E:, you'll see it. If you lack common programs, stuff happens. Learn how to use your computer. Windows hasn't changed much in 30 years.

I don't think they changed Vista that much. If you can't find something in Windows, I think you've never used it. I'm not trying to be mean, I've used the stuff most of my life and it's all the same, to me.

Return to the factory 3 times and has no clue how to search. I think it's no clue how to search, that's the problem. This girl needs a crash-course in computer usage.

Any guy wanna teach? I don't have the patience.

If you are attempting to put me down, because HP told me to return it 3 times since it was their fault as they said in pc,not my being fairly new to computers, feel free.Patience is something we learn then it is a virtue, comes with time and wanting to obtain it.Up toyou. But your remarks if meant to be cutting, don't upset me or hurt me.I forgive the comments,on this sight you learn quickly.Have a good evening. Thanks for trying to help. Now you get a Vista in front of you and see what the difference is,you'll be very suprised as were 2 techs. Also you would be suprised at all I have learned and done on my own since owning pc.But think as you will, your choice. No bitterness here.peace handshake
