So, found out a few days ago that I have/had a bone infection in my hip which is likely why it broke during the accident. So, anyhoo, now I am 36 and sporting a brand new titanium steel alloy hip. I felt so young all my life, and now I feel so old.

Hopefully I will get out of this hospital by Friday so I can start recovering again again. I am not looking forward to the months of rehab.

don't be silly.. now you are like the bionic man applause

Anyway.. look at it this way.. LOTS of older people end up having to have hip replacement ops..

You just got yours sooner..

and being younger it means you will heal faster and get over it quicker thumbs up thumbs up

Was it an infection in your hip or a disease?

My daughter had Perthes disease in hers.. (Legg-Calvé-Perthes) She has a mostly metal hip too

and will have another hip replacement when she stops growing.

She is now on of the school team sprinters.. (bionic see!) haha

swims like a fish.. etc etc..

and you would never know.

thumbs up

that's rough, though i suppose the silver lining could be that, otherwise, the infection may have gone undetected for longer, and destroyed much more bone.
Hope the recovery is quickcomfort

Well, I have rheumatoid arthritis but haven't really had a lot of pain from it for the most part. But it complicated this injury for sure.

I will be in rehab for like 6 months. And I am already pretty lean from my work out schedule, so it is amazing that I have atrophied 12 lbs since this all started....especially since I am pumped full of IV fluids and probably once that wears off I will be down 20-25.

I guess I am fortunate to not have had lots of health problems. I guess it is catching up to me now.

your young, healthy fabulous fit body will heal much quicker than an older person after a hip replacement- maybe this time, there will be a better percentage of young gorgeous single nurses!!laugh

Hi Clay so sorry to hear that.U may not believe me,but my g-son had that when he was 7.They were taking him to minniapolis for treatment. The day he went back for surgery they did an xray.Everyone we knew was praying for him to be healed. When the dr came back from reading the xray, she said I dont know what has happened the blood vessel has renewed itself and we dont have to do surgery. She also stated that this desease always requires surgery. My daughter told her we believed in prayer. She said whatever ur doing keep on doing it.That boy is now 17 and playing football.i will pray for ur daughter.teddybear
