put a search into yahoo for something totally unrelated...clicked...and somehow was hooked. read the forums for several months before jumping in.

I started because I was bored and lonely after a relationship breakup. And it has helped.

Why I came here?
I was getting divorced and had moved into my own house. I wanted to have a social life but not quite a social life
Now I'm divorced and live in a small, rural town.
My CS friends are still my social life until a wonderful, college-educated, witty farmer finds me and sweeps me off my feet!

I love this site because of the people that I've met. So many have touched my heart by their kind words. I've laughed my head off, cried at some points, and had the wonderful opportunity to make some new friends.

Too bad we can't just write one and share....LOL.. have no idea of your major, but my eldest son once turned in a paper describing Risk. All the other students researched and wrote pages. He wrote ONE word. THIS. He got an A.......Yes! that's my boy, 20yrs old and makes $36 an hour and I'm damn near 41 still in school and spending too much time on this darn thing...for what ever reason.

I'm writing my thesis in comparative linguistics. Looking at spanish and swedish sports language (written) to see if and how they differ, if the metaphores are centred around the same themes, how much of the terminology are anglisisms, etc. Fun, actually - but it just gets too much from time to time, well - you know!
