what do you think if a child comes on your property and is bit by your dog? do you think the dog should be euthanized?
do you think that people should not be allowed to have certain breeds of dogs?

It depends on how bad the bite is,

confused why does it depend on how bad it is
JMO I think its bad enough to have a dog that will bite a child in the first place. if they bite a little soon they will bite a lot wave

I think it depends on weather the child was antaginizing the dog, past history of the dog. these things should be taken on a case by case basis. they are never realy cut and dry.

as for breads. the animal is only a product of the way it is raised, I have known some rots that are the bigest babys in the world, also some I would never get near. also some labs that were the meanest dogs I have ever seen

I would not kill the dog unless the court ordered it.

The kid startled the dog, and the dog was protecting his domain.

My parents taught us to respect the dog's(or any other animal's) territory. If a dog or any other animal is harassed on it's own property, I think the child needs to be talked to, not the dog euthanized- I know of a horse whom has killed two dogs for harassing him. He even grabbed a child from the other side of the fence and shook him very hard b/c the child was #1 throwing stones @ him and #2 hitting him with a stick. If the dog goes outside of it's territory and attacks then that is different. i will not let my dogs be out with put me there to supervise them. It is too easy for someone to claim "Your dog ----" So mine are in the house when Mama is not home. But that is just me and I was raised on a farm so I am biased...

so if it was your kid running to get his ball in your neighbors yard and their dog bit him. you would just tell your neighbor oh its my kids fault and you would feel totally comfortable with that dog living next door sigh

Yes, b/c the child should look and respect the other dog's territory. That's how I was raised.- "If you don't respect the dog's territory and WALK up the walk way and knock on the door the way the dog is expecting you to, and he sees his owner give you permission to go into the yard and get your ball back, then it's your fault and you deserved to get bit!"professor professor professor

no the dog was not tied up and I was not very concerned about the dog so I didn't ask. My concern was for the child and thinking about my six yr old that lives a few houses down sad flower

I live in a mobile home park and we are not allowed to have fences also they just started allowing dogs last year so it is pretty much a new thing in our neighborhood. I understand that people love their dogs but I think children's safety is more important and this kid was not teasing this dog he was running to get his ball and the dog went after him

best advice I can give you is make friends with the owner and introduce your kid to the dog, and EXPLAIN to your kid that he/she needs to respect the dog and not walk onto hs property.

Communication is EVERYONES resposibility.

If I ran in your yard and gave you a big kiss, would you euthanasia me(which might not be bad, depending on how you did it) or would you pet my head, or call the catcher.dancing dog dancing dog dancing dog

And with your response to my last post, the dog might not have a fence BUT he/she still knows the boundaries of his/her yard and that needs to be respected and the children need to be taught that.]teddybear teddybear teddybear teddybear

scold not funnyscold

my sonya was poisoned when she was just a puppy. She almost died. I spent $3500 in vet bills because of that. The stupid thing was that, she hadn't done anything to anyone.
