Suppose you have been reading the news on yahoo already....one million british bank accounts, with signitures and adresses, belonging to eBAY data base, were found in the hardware of a computer ,sold through internet for a bargain .....Let´s thank the honesty of the buyer who as soon as he found it on his new computer, reported to police. eBAY is investigating how that could happenprofessor

Why would eBay be in trouble?

It was a company in UK that sold the computer via eBay, but it does not make them -eBay- liable.

Bad practise to not wipe the hard disk by that company, their business is to keep data safe. !!!

To conrad : the server was a file server - the hard disk inside is then a very vital part :)

You can be right, I dont know what model that was. But often it is built with four identical hard disks that mirrors each other. The value is in the hard disks. 35 pounds makes me wonder if the company (the seller) is really doing very well laugh

At least they could have overwritten them , so Data-Recovery would have been impossible.
