blondeaozichick: I like things in pairs .. for eg if I have an elephant statue on one side of the mantlepiece.. I need to have on on the other side it just looks balanced that way
my mum has to have the same coloured pegs on each item of clothing
same colored pegs is a good one, but then i can't talk each line on the clothes line is for certain sized clothes...
When I was young and mum was teaching me to hang clothes on the line we had a Hills Hoist.
Mums rule was that the undies and socks went right in the middle, then the shirts, and on the very outside went all the sheets, towels and so on. She reakoned that then NO ONE could see yer 'smalls' on the line..

same here Shell. Not only that but the towels and sheets didn't get grease on em from the centre pole.
doesn't work now tho, i have one of those oblong lines that go against the house or fence.

Shell225: Me too.. if I put my smallie things near the fence they dont get enough sun .. so now I just get confused about where to hang anything..
So generally if anyone walks into the back yard, they get to look at my undies on the line..
I dont put undies on the line outside at all anymore.. I hang them on the clothes airer inside .. in fact I rarely hang clothes on the line anymore.. unless I have that much washing I HAVE to

Hmmmmm, at least my visitors have to go outside to see my undies..
where all ears i always warm up engines, or the car, b4 getting stuck into it or highways speeds etc. maybe just a good practice used from my mechanical background

There's nothing wrong with the appreciation of symetry and it's quite ok to have a preference for it but it's when you need it or have to have it that it becomes compulsive. I guess it could probably be considered obsessive when it starts to affect your life or when your friends start to notice you doing stuff that's just to weird ie. If you straighten the cutlery when you sit down at a restaurant you could put that down to preference. If you're instantly anoyed because of the asymetry of having forks on one side and knives on the other, that's a compulsion. If you straighten the cuttlery on every table in the restaurant, you've got a problem. That's my take (2,3,4)
