Everybody has some issue(s) with their self esteem, self confidence and self worth. Its part of being human. We're going to make mistakes, we'll miss some of goals that are set for us and that we set for ourselves. In some way shape or form we're all going to feel as if we fall short. But, understand that things change and that the things that matter to you now may not matter six months from now or six years from now. The simple truth is, everyone has feelings of inferiority. If everyone fails, everyone hurts, everybody is inferior, then nobody is, in fact, inferior. People will know things that you don't know, go places that you don't go, meet people that you don't meet. You will know things that others don't know, go places that others don't and meet people that others don't. Different is just different, not inferior.

No matter who you are or aren't, no matter who you think you are or aren't, no matter who other people think you are or aren't, everybody is born. Everybody dies. Birth is by most definitions a moment of success. Death is by most definitions the ultimate failure. We all do both and can prevent neither one from coming to pass.

There is a difference between an inferiority complex and being inferior. That is hard for most to understand, because they have a superiority complex

i was at an assertiveness seminar several years ago, and in it we talked about how we were spoken to as kids, and nearly all of us said, we were taught by criticism- I think that was a very popular way back when i was young( before electricity and running water!! laugh )
I think that kind of parenting can lead to insecurities about ourselves- i know i have always had them- not pretty /slim/smart enough, despite what i've been told by friends.
My parents were lovely people, that was just the way a lot of folks did it back then.
i have become more confident in myself since my 40's but would still assume... that someone doesn't like me, or be attracted to me, unless it was spelled out to me.
i am getting better thoughlaugh

ModestlyAwesome: It's about overcoming weakness with strength. If you are determined enough you can overcome your insecurities. Understand that you will </b> be able to please everyone, so just be the person that makes happy. It's not an overnight thing, but with time you'll understand just how awesome you are/can be and a lot of the inferiority feelings will go away.

No hugs are necessary, lol. :P

thumbs up

thats true but depending on how deep rooted it is its not something most people can do by themselves ...they need counselling !

Emanuellla: i won't ask you which are they i just need to know whether you have them or had them and if you got rid of them how did you do it? or maybe you have friends that are passing through this....how do you support them to deala with them?

every lil piece of advice would be greatly appreciated and rewarded with plenty of hugs

I used to be extremely shy...but overcame it by choosing careers in which shyness was not an option so I had to overcome it and just did the things that were required to do so regardless of my fears...like public speaking....dealing with different facets of the public etc....and developing self-confidence each time I accomplished something that I could never do before....wave wink hug hug

I see it all the time and am most bothered when others have to put people down in order to build themselves up do to their own inferiority complexes.....but that's another thread....wink roll eyes uh oh
