The bottom line is that the harder the drug the stronger the case for making it legal, take heroin for instance , street heroin is one of the vilest substances known to man full of lethal crap that does not need to be there take double you normal dose of street heroin and you will od , yet pharmaceutical heroin is so safe in comparison that you will sleep off a double dose in fact it is very hard to accidentally take a fatal over dose of it (by the way pharmaceutical heroin is one of the most common painkillers given post op),
jampet: mea culpa- never thought about the drug addicted babies, but aren't there already babies born with horrendous disabilities( if they live) as a result of totally legal alcohol or tobacco use? and alcohol causes more domestic violence than drugs , maybe the war should be on alcohol or tobacco use in pregnancy( too difficult to police i realise:()
however- i think the results of alcohol use in pregnancy are possibly more long term than with drug use, especialy 'soft drugs' again i have no facts to back up my statment, just beliefs- ready for and happy to accept the flames
Oh yes there are the same abuses with alcohol...I was thinking more in terms of hard addictive drug use where it won't matter if you are pregnant or not...you have to have the drug...and I'm not sure the effects of soft-drug use during pregnancy...I'm sure there is damage...not nearly as much as the hard drugs....
hollandgirl: Should drugs, ALL drugs be free for everyone?.................
The war on drugs has been lost a loooong time ago. You read about the large catch the cops make at times. Much ado it made about it. The truth is; Not even 10% is confiscated. Think how many people would lose their job alone in the police forse already.
How much crime would be elliminated, job lose for many there too, judges, jailhouse keepers etc. etc? Anything that is iligal has more of an attraction, would it be so when you can get drugs free and anytime, anywhere?

Conrad73: I don't think you have seen much of the Devastation those things are causing!!!
Do you know me?
I am not making these things up I have seen and read plenty. Please do go to youtube and print; "legalize all drugs" It is an eyeopener for sure. It is even better than why I did go to Google
I have some info on growing Weed, and how to do certain other things on my Computer. But it's purely academic. As far as I am concerned,if someone wants to Grow and Smoke Weed, they're welcome.Same with Tobacco! But keep the damn Government out of it. Nothing good has ever come from this kind of Govt Involvement!

I have to agree with government involvement. In Canada we have government run liquor stores. We now have in addition some private stores. Their prices not cheaper.
scott5306hotmail: I MUST CORRECT YOUR CORRECTION. NOBODY EVER SAID CANADA LEGALIZED POT
The Canadian governement was ready to make Marijuana legal for personal use, the Americans said; NO Holland has made Marijana legal but unless all other countries follow suit it is not working. -AS POSTED BY HOLLANDGIRL ON PAGE 1 OF THIS THREAD - THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO MAKE IT LEGAL FOR PERSONAL USE - FOR MEDICAL USE - WANNA SPLIT HAIRS???
I AM VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS - i HAVE A CHILD WHO IS IN THE HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW, LEARNING TO COPE WITH A PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEM THAT WAS TRIGGERED BY THE ATTEMPTED SUICIDE OF HIS FATHER WHO WAS/IS A DRUG ABUSER...
All of these quoted arguments are sound, Holland - except the part about creating massive federal bureaucracies to "regulate" drugs. Still, even that would be a VAST improvement over current policy.
