well, i kind of agree...to an extent...music, like fashion, goes in cycles...there are some simularitys....but, then again...musicians of today are influinced by the musicians of yesterday...so, its inevitable that there music is going to sound like music or a musician that they were influinced by, in the past.....thats why when someone with some originality comes along, people are sure to take note...cause all musicians have an influince...and more times then not, you can hear it
ther wouldn't be the sixties sound if it wasn't for what occurred in the fifties....
and there wouldn't be the ninties if it wasn't for what happened in the sixties, seventies, eighties....
and so on.....
in my youth we had Hendrix.....
now we got whoever.....
get the gist?
Good answer but still a lot of music now days has a melody but no meaning there is still some that does but whoa. They just must be taking a breack in the best songs department...
Hannasthe1: A lot of the music comming out now days is non comparable to the music that came out in the 60's, 70's and 80's even.
What are your thoughts?????

I think it's about play time. Some songs grow on us thru repetition. It's easier for us to absorb songs when we are younger.Just learning ,what we like. As we get older ,we tend to be a bit closed minded at times.I tell myself."keep an opened mind".

But you are right.
I don't think music will ever be as good as it was in the 60's, 70's...then as the 80's started to come around...it was the start of the deterioration of music...even to the point of getting out of category. Today's music runs together...Country ain't what it used to be...a lot of it belongs in the Pop, or Rock category. Bring back the days of good solid music...with lyrics that mean something real. Oh well...time goes on.... JMO

It comes and it goes....
there seems to be shifts in creativity that comes and goes....
has been like that ever since i can remember...
was a radio DJ at 17 and stayed tuned to what is happenning to date....
so I got thirty years of rock and pop playing in my head uc.....
plus an extensive collection of CD and \Vinyl from the early years....
still feel entusiastic about new sounds......
Goo Goo Dolls
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Coldplay
and loads more.....
in the myriad of rubbish that is throw at us, you will still find the musicians that will be the names remembered for this period....
for every song that made a mark in the past...
there were a million more that fissled away in memory....
but that which is good music will always remain so.

80's alternative
I think music has become nothing but business these days. Lyrics don't matter...if it has a good beat and a "stars" name singing it, and it makes money, that is all that matters.

Yes, that's true.. if you and I did a stunning duet with fantastic lyrics it probably wouldn't sell because we're not famous, well not yet anyway

sometimes it does'nt even have to be good...they'll play it over and over again until people are brain washed into thinking they like it...and record labels pay radio stations to do this....that used to be illegle...who was it, ron paola?...he lost his carrier over that...now its common place
