Any suggestions for anything that will help to calm a young friend of mine who is having her first driving test tomorrow and has been getting worked up about it all week?

What I tell my kids when they get all nervous about a test is to pretend it's not a test...to just study and do their best...and think of it as just another school day...so you may want to tell her to try to forget the test part and pretend it's just a driving lesson...and just to make sure she does everything she has been taught!!!!!!!!

I've suggested one glass of wine, but she refuses to take anything at all saying she wants nothing to upset her or make her feel off in the morning It's a losing battle

Good advice, when my girls were going for their tests I told them to think of it as a "pre test" test (not the real thing) not to even think of passing or failing just a learning lesson for the real thing whenever....
they both passed first time......
best of luck to your friend and remind her that win, lose or draw it will not be the death of her ie she WILL live through it......

maybe a liter of tepid water. That would be best. ;-}

Thank you I will tell her.
Yours did very well to both pass first time..........
The_Kansan: Tell her to picture herself as though she's been driving for years and it's old hat, then drive that way during the test. She'll do fine!
Not so sure this is a great suggestion, considering how some people drive who've been driving for years!! Don't want the license revoked before she even gets it.

Ah yes it makes you wonder if we all had to retake the driving test, how many of us would actually pass!!!!.......

I have tried the old think of the examiner in their underwear to try and lighten her mood but to no avail.
That would never work for me if it happened to be a female tester I would run into the first telephone pole I came to. At the minimum she'd fail me for not keeping my eye on the road. This would be me---> or--->
Ask her, how would you like to be taking a test in a tracter trailer? I think the Kansan can relate to that.
