I was in my livingroom in London watching a film with Laurance Olivier and Vivian Leigh , think it was called Lady Hamilton , was enjoying it and suddenly there was a newsflash showing the 1st plane hitting the towers , well needless to say it was awful , my friend phoned me and was so upset , she said she thought it was the end of the world !!

I was Married, Both of us had fallen asleep on seperate couches and the TV was on. I was half awake when the news man and the announcements were waking me up. I woke up my ex. I was kinda in a dream state..It took awhile to really see that it was happening. I sat there in disbelief..

I remember it was the most beautiful blue sky morning, watching The Today Show and drinking my hot tea, when the first reports came in. Initially they thought it was an accident, but it being a very bright and clear morning, an accident didn't make sense. Went to take a shower and in the meantime the second plane hit. After the anchors concluded that it was obviously terrorist, I watched the t.v. all day in disbelief. I thought at first that the fire dept. would put out the fires and rescue the survivors, but when that first tower fell, I knew this was history in the making. I was shocked. I picked up my son from school that afternoon and remember the cars lining up at the pumps. I also remember the looks in peoples' faces. You knew which ones knew. My son then told me that they talked about it at school and that he felt scared.

I remember thinking that same thing as I was driving to work that morning. It was just such a clear, sunny day.

It was 1 of those rare days when I was ready for work earlier than i had to be! i turned on the tv to catch some sports highlights from the night before. Then the report of a plane hitting the towrer came in. The reporters speculated that a small plane had veered off course and hit the tower. Then the footage rolled in! I am a USAF veteran and my job was a crash and rescue firefighter. I know the characteristics of burning jet fuel all to well and knew the small plane story was not true. I was working for the milwaukee Brewers baseball team and had to go. It was about a 25 minute drive to the stadium.
When I got there all the tv's were on and a normally jovial group of co-workers were looking very serious and sullen. shortly after arrival there was still not much info coming in. Then the 2nd plane strike happened and my suspiscions were confirmed! I remember the reporters were interviewing a firefighter and we all saw something falling, heard a loud thud and saw an awning in the background collapse. It was the 1st jumper! I started crying like a baby because i knew many would die this day and our lives, our world and our country would never be the same. They haven't been.
I am teaching English in China now and it's the first year I haven't been with my friends who I love dearly and my support group.
I have been in China for nearly a year and this is the 1st time I've felt completely alone. 7 yers later and I still morn that day! Peace!

I was taking my son to school that morning....a beautiful morning here also...The normal morning radio talk show that we usually listen to was interrupted by 'breaking' news...The "accidental" crash of a plane into one of the Towers in NY. When I arrived home, I went to a family member's house and together we watched live and prerecorded video of everything on CNN... I believe that is one of the most horrific moments of my life...sad flower My thoughts and prayers are with ALL that lost loved ones in that tragedy. bouquet

I was driving to Stansted Airport in S.E. England, when i heard the first reports coming in on the radio, and listened in disbelief,as more reports came in.
But those reports did not prepare me for the terrible shock,of actually seeing what had happened,on tv.
I never thought i would see something like that in my lifetime.
Yes,the world did change that day.

I was in Lisbon for business. The first word came in while we were out for a coffee break, in a twisted way, claiming that it was the war planes that hit Manhattan and that Empire State Building was down.

I felt this tantalizing wave going down my spine, almost as if I was electrocuted.

I left everything in the meeting room and rushed out the street to hail a cab back to my hotel. On the way, the cab driver switched his radio to a station with an English broadcast, and finally I was able to get an idea of what was happening.

The following 2 hours were a nightmare as I desperately tried to get a hold of my kids on the phone to make sure they were home and safe. Thank god the call finally went through and they were o.k. I spent the rest of the day sitting at the lobby with other folks from the States, glued to CNN Europe, watching all those gruesome events in graphic details, sobbing and crying....... blues
