Stolen Valor

Tom Diamond

I thank everybody in our community for all support and prayers offered up in my and my late wife's support and concerns over the Vandalism and Desecration of her ( our ) gravesite.
My wife passed away from Cancer September 12th. 2006 and was laid to rest Sept. 14th. in Parker County Texas. I and my fellow Purple Heart recepients formed an Honor Guard for her funeral and escorted her to her grave.
I ordered a Pink Granite HeadStone from India and upon arrival had one of my Purple Heart Medals inserted into the center of it not only out of my love and undying devotion for Linda but that as time marches on, passersby might take notice and know that the man at rest there was once a Warrior.
No matter which country, Nation or continent a person fights and maybe dies for, irregardless that there's no medal involved, no-one has the right to desecrate the final resting place of any person or persons.
I reported the incident to," The Democrat", a newspaper in the small town of Weatherford Texas, located approx.3 mi. from the cemetery and in Parker County. I also made a full report to The Parker County Sheriff Dept. of whom half of the Dept. are Decorated Combat Veterans.
Again I wish to express my gratitude and respect to all my and Angels buddies for their support. I believe the incident may gain more attention than would be normally gained as the act of inserting the Purple Heart Medal into a Grave Marker had never been performed in Texas and so therefore has incredible historical significance.
In closing I wish to state that I was ready and still am, set to if I can, reach out and touch someone. However I must leave the matter in the hands of the proper authorities ( Cowboys) who like me know how to deal with certain matters the way us true Texans do. Yessir.
Incredible in that I'm still alive, fully erect and capable to say nothing of husky, to know and actually discover my own future gravesite has been desecrated before I am even buried under it. Simply incredible once the full realization sinks in.
So like the true Texan I am, time has been well spent with my buddies dancing thru' the night of the 12th.with Seagrams7,Bourbon, Bud -lites and dirty dancin' long legged Texas gals in an effort to keep me under control and out of total insanity.I hope Angel didn't read that last sentence,,,,,,,,,,uh oh

Sincerely,
TD

Tom, I'm so sorry to hear of the desecration and theft...that sucks so bad. Nobody deserves that. Unfortunately, it does happen a lot...and I hate it. But with this particular timing, that's worse.

hug
