Daniel4021: I understand what you are saying my friend, but you in turn should understand that if you want to get your point accross to more people, the speack in simple terms.. wouldn't it be better to reach many that just a few? I would think so, I believe I get my point accross very well and am understood by a lot of people.. just a suggestion, also I guess in some circumstances people can misunderstand what a person means by saying hate, and or disagree

Now my friend.. to enlighten you.. I am half Canidian..

No you are not my friend, you are half Canadian, and I already knew this from long ago.
There are no stupid questions but the ones we do not ask. If someone wants clarification they will ask and someone here will help them. This is a very user friendly forum with a great deal of intellect amongst all its users (well every once in a while we get a Gary but you get the point).handshake

SirenLydia: The word intelligence seems to embrace several things which makes it quite intangible and therefore hard to pin down.

I know we all have intelligence, it's just a case of how we use it,
just opening our minds to take in learning and life skills and applying
them in the best way for us to go forward in life as the very different
people we are.By the by Barren I like the way you write, I get bored sometimes with
reams of words from posters as if we are receiving lectures but
it all adds to the diversity of the forums.

I can be just as straight forward as the rest here and I am sure that most if not all could expound as deeply or deeper if they wanted to. You are right the diversity is nice, and it does add a lovely flavour to the dishes we serve around here.
Thank you.handshake

Aren't words and their connotations wonderful. There are so many nuances to languages. Just as was pointed out earlier how similar words in a sentence can evoke something different. My brain is much tonight however not sure that I should enter the fray lol.
The beauty is to find out your own intelligence and recognize how others possibly exhibit theirs.

See the perfect example of how someting so simple as a comma can change the entire landscape of a subject. It was not intended as such but was interpreted this way, even if in humour.
Daniel you are indeed my friend and I do appreciate what you say both here and elsewhere in the forums.
If a simple punctuation can be seen in such a way to turn a sentence 180 degrees how much more can a word do?handshake

There are several things that the profoundly gifted have in common:

1. They’re born with a high capacity for short term and long-term memory storage. Later this can be extended greatly by practice but the trait exists from birth.

2. A trait generally unnoticed, they have a naturally long attention span. This too becomes better with practice.

3. Almost from birth they have an insistent drive. They have a compulsion to learn, to figure things out.

4. Their intelligence has been nurtured. Their zest for knowledge needs to be fed by being provided with access to books and information. Unfortunately, a large percentage of gifted children lose their desire for learning because their family and teachers unknowingly hold them back. The rush to discovery gets sluggish when they’re forced to sit in a classroom and do pages of elementary addition problems when they’ve already learned algebra.

I agree Anna, I see our educations system as a bottle neck effect. Imagine a pop bottle cut in half and placed over the figurative mind. In the beginning they teach a vast supply of differing information, and it gradually becomes more and more specific until in the end out of the top pops another cog or gear for the machine of society.
The slow learners are forced in whatever way to get to the middle of the pack and the quick learners are equally yoked to remain in the same middle.

Daniel4021: And that my friend is what I am trying to do, as you can see.. good thread imo.. but there is however one thing I would like to bring to your attention... even though there are a lot of people on this site that can understand you when you speak, there are some that cannot, I noticed this in one of your other threads when a lady posted she wasn't as educated as everyone else in that particular thread.. So Barron, put thing in simple terms so that even those that don't have the vocabulary that you do can understand what you are saying.. don't get me wrong, I understand you perfectly well, but I am wise enough to know, that if I want to make a point, I do it in simple terms, so everyone reading gets a clear picture..

Good point Daniel, Barren does not realize this I believe, that he is going over a few peoples head at times. Mine included.

Working in an Office the accountant would stop by every two weeks to check my books.
One day I told him this is not smart, if I have made a mistake I need to go back two weeks, this makes no sense to me.
How do the banks do this, I asked.
Well they balance daily. DUH.
Then that is what we are going to do to from now on eh.

Here was simply common sense at work, not my intelligents.
