As the election draws closer, I am saddened by the stands that some have taken. Not because of their affiliation or support of their candidate, but by the name calling and intolerance of each other. Some that over the years have been very level headed and consiliatory, have become really intolerant of others views. I can see "friendships" being torn apart over silly political issues. Please let's get back to attacking issues and not each other.

As for me, I will no longer participate in any political discussion until after the election, as I have learned today, ther are no discussions on CS. Only hate-filled arguments. No wonder our country is in the condition it is.

sad flower I'm sorry to hear that it's going that way on here today, Ship. I won't be on 'cuz I have my sons this weekend, but sounds like a good thing I'll be missing this party. I agree that it should be kept to discussion and not degenerate into slamming others over political differences of opinion. We're all entitled to our own opinions, and nothing said on here is going to sway another to your point of view...nor should one be trying to do so.

I hope the others listen to your words today. Blessings, Ship. handshake comfort hug

I will be the first to admit my political views are strong, but whe name calling get involved, because you disagree with another CS member....it is getting out of hand.

I agree, but it is not down to political threads only, Ship, it is about learning how to debate and respectfully.

Sadly, that is often lacking here.

I agree Ship. My views are strong, but I don't think I direct them at anyone on a personal level. I say I avoid those threads, but I keep finding my way in them.

There are times, lately, that I ponder a sabbatical until after, say, the election. smoking

Hugz_n_Kissez: I agree....

Hi Hugz

It is true, if I post something, that is not directed at anybody, I have strong views on certain matters, I am slated 'for being obtuse, difficult'

But there you go, debating is an art, a skill and it is lacking here, trying to have a discussion is impossible, around difficult subjects, I am accused of being stupid, combative or rude...

EU forums? Just never happens...

People have a difference of opinions and it is sorted in a puff...

Yes I hear you...It happens often unfortunately...I honestly think some people don't know how to debate or what a debate is...to provide the best points possible while backing them up with a reasonable explanation why...or some other type of evidence to back your points up....not who can call the best names or put you down the most so that the whole point of the debate is lost....wave wink roll eyes uh oh dunno laugh hug teddybear hug bouquet

And the sad thing is, they do not have to do it....

I can be strident in my views, but having an open mind, I am willing to look at things from a different angle, I have admitted to that...

Alas, it is like talking to a brick wall...

And the amount of people that fall out with you...

Bring a European, I have never seen anything like it....
