And yet, I feel the fool For twice no has he ignored His rule, to take a soul one Way only, four times now Have I ventured thus and thus And now his thoughts are grim When is the last time I will see him When will his ferry be shed of me His thoughts eager to be shut of me.
Three times a charm, I return One more time to that unholy Berm, beside the five rivers Of the underworld, my time Coming, soon, or later, still It's just time that I will kill Before once more, standing On that shore, in debt to The boatman, two pence Laid on my eyes as I burn.
