The_Kansan: Thanks, everyone! Gettin' closer - We're gonna' take off in about 30 minutes or so to head for surgery center and should be back home in about 5 or 6 hours.
It's gonna' be a breeze! But, damn the luck, I'm already missing my morning coffee!!! Thanks again for all the well wishes! See ya' later!
That's what I always hate most about having procedures done where you can't eat or drink anything before. I know it's too late, but just for future reference, an anesthesiologist told me this. You can swish coffee around in your mouth and spit it out, you'll absorb some of the caffiene. Ok, I know that's gross, but for us coffee addicts, anything helps.
i had my gallbladder out when i was 10. no biggy, i went home in like 5 days. and they only kept me cause i was so young. i was fine up and walking the afternoon of my surgery. haha.
then i had my spleen out when i was 15 i think. that one was blew. had to cut me clear open. i was in the hospital for like 10 days. but i developed an infection.
only thing about having your gallbladder out... you cant eat greasy foods all that much. well at least not without getting a stomach ache. i cant eat fast food much anymore. i get sick. =[
best wishes. i hope you get to feeling better soon.
I had mine pulled only to find out that wasn't the problem, but I don't miss it. Kind of like a wife. You know it's there, but you ignore it most of the time. Causes you pain, but once she is gone, you realize you could have done without her all along!!

Crumbs! you had lots done and soo young..
My mother OUTlaw.. has had lots of things removed..
I said.. 'Hmmm.. I always wondered HOW you had such a flat stomach.. half your insides are missing!!'
The_Kansan: I've mentioned this, more or less off-hand, a couple (ok about a hundred!) times lately, but here it is officially:
I'm going in, in a little less than 12 hours to get my darned ol' gallbladder yanked out so that I can finally (after 11 months!) start (and keep!) feeling better.
I'm not overly concerned - in fact, I'm looking forward to getting it over with - but several (wonderful, caring) members here have expressed concern and heartfelt well-wishes and I just wanted to take the time to say "Thank you, each and everyone, it really means quite a lot to me!"
I'd like to be nervous and I guess I probably should be and maybe I am just a little bit, but mostly I figure that it won't be a big deal and I'll be back on my feet in a day or two and back to work in about 3 weeks or a month.
In the mean time, you poor souls are liable to get awfully tired of me hanging around all the time.
So thanks again to everyone who's already wished me well and thanks in advance to anyone who bothers to respond to this. With friends and family like you guys, my convalescence should be an absolute breeze! (Not to mention a real hoot!)
...Don...
(A.K.A. The Kansan)
I hope everything goes well, and wish you a quick recovery. Conrad
