curious: True but with that minor adjustment it gives us a better ending scenario...opportunity for a little but kicking as others have noted...

curious: What would you do?

Even if she gets attention there’s a very high chance she’ll die.

He’s bleeding heavily from a wound to the neck and you need to stem the flow of blood immediately. It will only take about 5 minutes to stop, but it will mean your wife will definitely die.

If you tend to your wife however, the man will bleed to death despite the fact it could have been avoided.

Who would you choose to work on?

One of them is going to die either way, so you attempt to save the one with the best chance for survival.

In this case the man.

curious: What would you do?

You are an emergency worker that has just been called to the scene of an accident. When you arrive you see that the car belongs to your wife. Fearing the worst you rush over to see she is trapped in her car with another man.

She sees you and although barely conscious, she manages to mouth the words “I’m sorry”…

You don’t understand, but her look answers you question. The man next to her is her lover with whom she’s been having an affair.

You reel back in shock, devastated by what her eyes have just told you. As you step back, the wreck in front of you comes into focus. You see your wife is seriously hurt and she needs attention straight away. Even if she gets attention there’s a very high chance she’ll die.

You look at the seat next to her and see her lover. He’s bleeding heavily from a wound to the neck and you need to stem the flow of blood immediately. It will only take about 5 minutes to stop, but it will mean your wife will definitely die.

If you tend to your wife however, the man will bleed to death despite the fact it could have been avoided.

I'd puncture the gas tank step back and toss in a cigarette. And then I'd hunt down and take away the computer of the person who put me in that hypothetical situation.

LLOMAO Darkhorse! head banger

Out of curiosity, and have been in a remotely similar situation with being the first responder at a traffic accident on the interstate in which the victim was clearly going to die (ejected through the front windshield, no seatbelt on, severed arm held on only by gristle with blood everywhere), she asked me if she was going to die. I was stupified and without speech, so I told her "I'm no doctor, but I think you're going to be ok." I held her hand while she died as the paramedics worked the other victims (triage). Is it wrong to lie to people about stuff like that, if you're fairly certain of the outcome? Just curious, still haunts me after 15 years of being a cop... And sorry to be the dark cloud, this one still confounds me...

Oh wow. I would want to believe that you were led to say what she needed to hear in that moment. It may be different for everyone. She was lucky to have had you there with her to bring her comfort. How much more tragic if she had suffered alone. hug

I hear you dude....i have been in your shoes and yes....you can lie to them just to keep them calm....sometimes it works....and for those that it does work they will tell you....your words helped me focus on living. It is not easy or fun to do and you need a good drink after it is over but it does help even if they go with god or whoever they have faith in.........

it makes a diffrence.

hats off to you brother.cheers

Is it wrong to tell a Christian God is calling him when he's on his deathbed and you know it and you don't even believe in God? I did that with my brother dude, I feel like a hypocrite sometimes, but...its what he believed, and who am I to say it didn't make him happier that way?

It sucks to be human sometimes.

I agree dude....it is not easy but you need to do as your heart tells you. Being a human does suck sometimes but have faith your words made him happier.

Thoughts are with you.handshake
