shipoker58: But the whole reason for this thread is to prove this person is right at all costs, and that is this person's MO. He MUST be right, at all costs! I that is just as bad as the Christian's argument. I am right...You are wrong. Period!! That's what these threads are all about!! I think once a person makes their position clear....move on!! Who cares who is RIGHT or WRONG???

The difference being in the reading material Ship - most Christians have only ever read Christian material and in fact, most Atheists I know are much better read on the Bible than most Chrstians who's own book it actually is......

Athiests dont suddenly decide when they wake one morning 'oooh, i think Ill be a atheist today', quite the opposite, we were mostly all indoctrinated the same and it takes courage and is a very lonely road at times to go against your family and all you once held dear - much easier to keep on going to church on sundays and not bothering about whats actually true..........

In a nutshell, we Atheists have seen both sides of the coin, not just accepted our indoctrinations and we have had the courage to also explore our doubts - that is a most frightening thing for many people and if people choose to scoff at this, then - I can only keep my own counsel on my opinion of their own particular form intellgence.........

Anyway.. I was just thinking.. Take Orla and I for example..

Two complete opposite ends of beliefs..

We still like each other very much.. we still get on very well.. and we still respect each other very much.

(Only using you as an example Orla)

But her truth is HER truth.. and my truth is MINE. thumbs up thumbs up

Thats how it SHOULD be I think... It doesn't make either of us any lesser people..

Just people with different ideas and understandings..

Agree with you, but just because of that lineage atheits inherit most of the conceptuality elaborated by Churches like the Catholic one. Think of the structure of modern science and the way people see it just to see the continuation of a thing from which we have not made any real breakthrough yet.

Atheism is as every bit as bad as any religion, both try to be the only one right, both try to make everyone see things there way. They both try to convert people to their way of believeing.
I do not believe in religion or the bible. But I also do not believe in a atheist views of there not being a God, I believe in God and I do believe in the power of prayer.

But the main thing is I do not believe in any one forcing their belief or views on every one else. wine

I just wanted to speak my views too, ha!!laugh laugh

Here's a little more on my views and beliefs.

Spirituality extends to all facets of a person’s life.
True spirituality is something that is found deep within oneself. It is your way of loving, accepting and relating to the world and people around you. It cannot be found in a church or by believing in a certain way.

ok, everyone is entitled to their belief and religion. i am just a person that is a factual person and if i have no proof then i do not believe. i college it is a fact (unless in religious college) the more educated you become the more you want facts. science is the art of disproving theory to make a actual truth. even if you do an essay of any kind you need at least 3 reference for any proof. the bible is only one source and it is full of thousand of contradictions. give me 2 more sources(not other bibles) that match the facts... you can't can you! with science you can trace back all facts to the root for self evidence. all trails leading from the bible end in failure because of no evident answers. some people are happy with faith and not knowing the truth. faith itself is the process of non thinking.

lets put it this way... you show me facts to back up your religious theory and i will consider what you have to say. an atheist would love to be proven wrong, but on the same note, religious people will argue to the end of time that they are right and are not willing to even show evidence!peace

if you have god on your side, why worry about atheists?

A serious question.

If each person here on CS tried to describe an apple we would likely have as many descriptions as there are people here. Each with their own inflection. No one of them would be less or more right. If an apple can cause such discepancy how great the variables on the intangible? Agree to disagree is the only solution. How long before a stance (any stance) becomes militant of sorts and thus the progression to religion?
Religion is a cop out every time in every case. Belief is not subject to this as long as it is in truth your believe rather than some masticated verbology handed down from one set of lips to another.

Why all the emotionality involved with this? Why do you even give a sh--t?

Why do Atheists even have to take a stance? Why not just say. "I'm atheist" .

Most people know that Atheist don't believe in God or invisible things of the spiritual nature.

Believers in God or a higher power have all kinds of options. We can choose our level of belief.

Atheists simply don't believe in GOD. period.

We don't disagree with that.

What's the big deal with y'all?

The probable is with all the believers trying to force their views on others to the point where they want laws banning lifesaving medicine
