For those who have met up with another CS member, I was just curious to find out your experiences .
What expectations did you have, if any? And when you did meet, how did it turn out?
I just thought it might be useful to share experiences, so that we can help each other in looking out for 'red lights', 'warning bells', questions to ask maybe before you meet, and so on.

I've met loads of people via CS - some became friends, and some became more than friends ............ your 'red lights' and 'warning bells' are the same as in any relationship apart from one thing - you meet a complete stranger in a bar and start up a conversation means you are starting from ground zero - but in this medium you get to know somebody first via correspondence and telephone and you should already know something about them before you meet for the first time...... that has to be an advantage unless you are a very poor judge of character and are easily fooled!

Nope, never met any from here. If I do and they turn out to be insane or evil I doubt I'll be writing about it on here. Especially if they know where I live

Hi rusty,
Yes, you make some good points.
And as with all encounters, you might genereally be a good judge of character and not easily fooled, yet much depends on the level of honesty that each person brings into the encounter.

And no-one would blame you for keeping that information to yourself!
I have met about 4 people on here, since I had joined last spring (on and off since then).
But I've met a lot more on 2 other sites I used to be a member of. So, in all (since Dec. of 2004), I've probably met over 30 people or so (from other sites I used to be on too).

Yes, I have had coffee with a few people in the past from another site of which I am no longer a member, and met one from this site.
I too have met several folks from this site and most of them have become dear friends. I'm looking forward to meeting many more.
One in particular that I met, far and away exceeded any hopes or expectations that I could have ever hoped to have had and in fact has succeeded in proving to me that, indeed, dreams can - and do - come true. I am speaking, of course, of my lovely wife Jackson.
We both remain on this site - despite our own success story - because of the friends we have made and continue to make here. And because of the ability to send each other virtual flowers--something we both do regularly and treasure deeply.

Hi Kansan,
Such a lovely story to read. True, how else can you send each other regular greetings and keep in touch with friends you made over time? Thank you.

My trip was successful in that the purpose was to complete the process of reclaiming my Italian citizenship. I did that and will soon be able to apply for an EU passport, which will one day in the future help me escape customs quickly through the EU passport counter!!!
But it meant handling lots of bureaucracy, tons of walking, talking, pushing and pulling of luggage all over the countryside. Slept with my mother's cousin (woman in her late 60's) for 6 nights, and who snored happily ALL night, while she was on 'stillnox'. You know, the sleeping drug that has some folk trying to strangle their partners in the middle of the night! I felt a tad vulnerable once she told me that! Anyway, it was all worth it, now recovering with a long weekend ahead of me!

Lovely, I am pleased aside from the cousin who snored...
