This is in regard to Zellarone's foolhardy contemplation of dabbling in The Occult, and Beenabout's open scepticism-:

Easily torn,is the flimsy fabric that insulates us from Dark Dimensions,
by those who are foolish enough to tear it.
And to do so,is to open the the gate-way,to unrelieved nightmares.
Closed,must remain,the Portal to pain,and everlasting anguish.

You have been warned!

I see card reading and fortune telling nothing more than a bit of fun and not to be taken seriously.
I regard superstition as a throw back to the dark ages when women and men were burned, drowned having been accused of witchcraft.
I live in the enlightened age, the 21st century and really have no time for such scaremongering.

This whole thing has been debunked so many times, its just another way for people to extract money from people who believe in such things.

Ghosts, goblins, ghoulies, the occult in general sells books, I enjoy reading fiction and thats all it is.

that's a bit negative really. i'm sure there must be some positive things about the dark dimensions. housing is probably quite cheap. good parking. nice views around the lakes of fire and you'd save a fortune on heating bills. as for unrelieved nightmares and everlasting anguish, anyone who's ever endured emmerdale farm will probably find it quite pleasant

Don't know if this will be relevant to the thread so if not I'm sorry..

I've always been very scepticle of Mediums, Fortune tellers etc.. Until my eldest sister who lost a baby 3 years ago went to see Derek Acorah (sp?)..

He asked the audience if the name Maggie meant anything to anyone.. My Sister and her Mum put their hand up (it was my Sisters Nans name).. He then said that she had a baby boy with her and he was safe and that she would bring him to see her when he was ready..

There was no way on earth that he would have known that, none whatsoever! Opened my eyes a little bit.

Im really sceptical on this stuff SB. Did they have to give their address when they bought tickets? I have heard it said that they do random checks on people who have booked tickets, they usually have to leave an address....

The name Maggie and the sad facts of miscarriages are common in lots of families.

I tried a ouija board when I was about 16 and it terrified me. I have since heard really scarry reports about it and would never try it again as the reports confirm the experience I had.

i agree, these mediums, do alot of guessing and have to be devious too, when asking questions,to the audience,in such events, you answer a question and before you know it,you have fed them info.i would never mess with the boards, that trish mentioned, very frightening

There may be genuine mediums, out there,SB.
But there are certainly a lot of fraudsters, too,or quacks.
And surely it is the worst kind of cynicism,to offer distressed people hope, when they are incapable,of what they claim.
They can find a snippet of information about someone, and make the most of it.
It is a lot easier to make someone believe, when they WANT to believe.

A friend told me once, how she and some of her friends decided to "have some fun" with a ouija board.
They were all blaming each other for pushing the glass around, after the word 'death',was spelled out.
When the electric light started to flicker, they decided to quit while they were ahead.
She still comes out in goosebumps, when telling her story.
Probably,it was just someone messing about, though no one ever owned up to it.
But then again. Maybe it was'nt.

Any ideas about that?

Do you think you know,or are aware of something, but on a deeper, maybe even subconcious level?
Is that it?
I am glad you do not seem frightened,by the weird events you describe.

I meant every word - Occultists are scaremongers and frauds who would not stand a chance face to face with anyone who knows exactly what they doto gulliblepeople whenthey are down and depressed

Remember - The Bully at school is only as strong as the ego and canonly function with a gang to help - Isolate the ring leader and then attack - They can be humiliated. grin

Pathetic morons who try to scare and go at paople who are suffering from depresion from behind a keyboard and the con-puter are even worse cowards, frauds and equally gutless face to face rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
