My friend Karen was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Tomorrow morning she will be having surgery to remove the lump. We are hoping they are able to remove it all. She is terrified that they may have to do a mastectomy (take the whole breast off). My mom had that done 15 years ago and is still upset. I am scared for her. blues

TY ladies, she will appreciate it very much. She is lucky, she almost cancelled her appointment for her checkup (where they found it) because she was busy. It is sooo important. Ladies, make sure you get your regular checkups!! Men, make sure your women friends and family get them too. If she would have waited, it could have been too late. professor

My sister had a mastectomy 20 years ago because of breast cancer. She is still here, living life to the full and I feel blessed to have her in my life.

We women are conditioned to look out for signs - lumps, etc but it is important that you guys look after yourselves too. Men can get breast cancer, although it is rare, and look after your prostate!!!!

I am showing my age here, prostate usually affects men 55 and over.

Thanks everyone. She had the surgery a few weeks ago to remove the lump and it thankfully was benign. However, she can still use prayers as two weeks after her surgery, her husband was diagnosed with a degenerative brain disease (I can't remember the name right now). :(
