HOLLAND, Ohio - Joe the Plumber said Thursday he doesn't have a license and doesn't need one. Joe Wurzelbacher, better known as Joe the Plumber, the nickname Republican John McCain bestowed on him during Wednesday's presidential debate, said he works for a small plumbing company that does residential work. Because he works for someone else, he doesn't need a license, he said.
But the county Wurzelbacher and his employer live in, Lucas County, requires plumbers to have licenses. Neither Wurzelbacher nor his employer are licensed there, said Cheryl Schimming of Lucas County Building Regulations, which handles plumber licenses in parts of the county outside Toledo.
Wurzelbacher, who voted in the Republican primary and indicated he backed McCain, was cited by the GOP presidential candidate as an example of someone who wants to buy a plumbing business but would be hurt by Democrat Barack Obama's tax plans. Wurzelbacher said he was surprised that his name was mentioned so many other times.
"That bothered me. I wished that they had talked more about issues that are important to Americans," he told reporters gathered outside his home.
Wurzelbacher, 34, said he doesn't have a good plan put together on how he would buy Newell Plumbing and Heating in nearby Toledo.
He said the business consists of owner Al Newell and him. Wurzelbacher said he's worked there for six years and that the two have talked about his taking it over at some point.
"There's a lot I've got to learn," he said....
In Toledo on Sunday, Wurzelbacher told Obama that he was preparing to buy the plumbing company, which earns more than $250,000 a year, and said: "Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?"
Obama said that under his proposal taxes on any revenue from $250,000 on down would stay the same, but that amounts above that level would be subject to a 39 percent tax, instead of the current 36 percent rate.
Wurzelbacher said Obama's tax plan wouldn't affect him right now, because he doesn't make $250,000. "But I hope someday I'll make that," he said.
Hugz_n_Kissez: "There's no evidence that any of these invalid registrations lead to any invalid votes," said David Becker, project director of the "Make Voting Work" initiative for the Pew Charitable Trusts.
Becker should know: he was a lawyer for the Bush administration until 2005, in the Justice Department's voting rights section, which was part of the administration's aggressive anti-vote-fraud effort.
Even the non-partisan truth-in-politics Web site FactCheck.org called foul on McCain's alleged possible conspiracy, noting that a Republican prosecutor handling a key Acorn registration fraud case has said there's no evidence indicating the group was involved in vote fraud.
"This scheme was not intended to permit illegal voting," said King County, Wash. Prosecutor Dan Satterberg in a 2007 statement, after a federal-state investigation found seven Acorn workers had submitted over 1,700 bogus voter registration forms. Well voter fraud only takes place when a fraudulent ballot has been cast....as said above there is no evidence that these invalid registrations have led to invalid votes....The Republican prosecutor handling the issue has stated there is no evidence that thew group was involved in voter fraud...which means obviously the FBI came up with squat in their investigation...or the prosecutor would have evidence if they did....
Hugs how much confidence do you have in a state ability to catch 'all' fraudulent registration? In OH alone they found 200,000 of them. How many have they missed?
Just one bad registeration that get voted....and is counted......mean that every legal vote is less than 1.
Skybow: Well Indy listen to these, McCain inciting a Kill him response and Palin for the crowds to yell treason.
Sometimes I wonder if you all expect to climb into a time capsule and transport yourselves to a safe place. This economic crisis is screwing all of America Indy, and Nero is fiddling.

Now maybe we should "u-tube" some of the videos from the liberal elite actors/actresses when they talk about Republicans. Dimwit Alec Baldwin...remember that one?

Well as stated by the Republican Prosecutor himself...there have been 0 registrations that have led to a ballot being cast..which is an actual vote....that's the full definition of voter fraud....not just the registration part......and I don't go by supposition...I go by the facts...and these are it.....Not to mention they also state that these so called bad registrations were turned in by acorn themselves....so it's not like someone all of a sudden caught all these bad registrations.....but that's neither here nor there when it comes to voter fraud....

Joe the Plumber was the real star of the third debate Posted By: Janet Daley at Oct 16, 2008 at 07:24:19

The only man who might change anybody's mind on who to vote for in this presidential race is Joe Wurzelbacher. He was the star of last night's final debate: the only one who managed to bring something genuinely new to an otherwise pretty predictable to-and-fro from Barack Obama and John McCain.
Joe the Plumber as he has come to be known is the man who wants to buy the small business in which he works, and to expand it so that he can employ more staff (which is to say "create more American jobs" in political speak). A few days ago, in what has now become a legendary confrontation, he accused Obama of planning to raise his taxes, thus making it very much more difficult for him to do his bit to expand the economy.
In the course of that exchange, Obama made the revelatory comment that he believed that "spreading the wealth around" would help everyone. And there it was: the crucial distinction between those (Democrats) who believe that the wealth created by individuals should be compulsorily redistributed, even if that means limiting the possibilities of creating more of it, and those (Republicans) who feel that it would be better left to the small businesses which will use it to grow and proffer more employment.
If that distinction were to permeate the consciousness of the US electorate with real force and clarity, McCain would win the election.
Skybow: I thought Obama was again articulate cool and calm. He was also very clear in his letting us know his future policys, who his advisors would be and what was important to him both as an individual and as a president.
I'm so glad that he is running for president, he is clearly the one to be the best option for America.

McCain finally has pinned down the topic that will send him to the white house. And Joe isn't even a bitter white man from western Pa. (Osama and Murtha quotes combined)

Going after a plummer, Sky? Ever hear of a plummer's assistant? Or a trademan in training? Means they are working in the field.....doing the work of the trade.....being PC on attacking the man choosen profession does not show very respect for the man or his industry.
Sounds pretty eliteist to me. Sky.
Not that Obama is a eliteist....he can get jokes today off of Joe, the 'near' plummer.....sound a lot like the comment on western PA voters being bible and gun toading. Yes?
At my coffee shop this morning......a bunch of people that were talking ACORN and Joe the Plummer.
Hugz_n_Kissez: Who said I supported Acorn????? I am just giving you the down low on what is required to make out a case for voter fraud...as said by the Republican Prosecutor himself.....That doesn't mean I support anything it means...that's the law....and whether you like it or not to date...Acorn has done nothing against the law.....
Now google "convictions Acorn voter fraud" and post all those 20 or 30 pages. I'll check back in a week.
Indyfella: So mail in ballots would be detected then?
How would I know...you would have to ask the prosecutor and the FBI what they have investigated and what their process is for mail-in ballots...I presume it's not something "Mickey Mouse" pardon the pun...and that someone would have to receive and examine all the mail in ballots.....
Skybow: And all of you up in arms about ACORN are totally ignoring real voter fraud like the effort to wipe registered voters off of the rolls. It seems a large number of Dem's and college students are being removed from the voting list. That is voter fraud.
Apparently pinning something on Obama is your main concern, not voter fraud.
Dems are getting what they deserve......200,000 illegal registrants...
The State of Ohio (dems) are in deep crap right now w/the courts. I'd love it.
