rasgumby: I still think most of the debt is caused by buying so much crap that we really don't *need*
Not because our salary hasn't kept up.

For the most part, the corporate interests have told us what to buy via TV ads, and most people have complied. If they didn't, there'd be no jobs to manufacture the needless junk that people are told that they need.

Cell phones is one of the biggest un needed items and such a scam!

It's an endless circle, or cycle. We manufacture goods, which employs people. The same people spend their pay-check to buy goods.....see what I mean ?

Wow... I feel so honored!! quoted twice in the same postwink

No need to explain to me silly.
I am just ranting about people wasting so much money and then wine about it when time comes to pay it.
or get so angry when their property is repossessed. because they couldn't pay for it.
and have the gall to blame others for it, such as our Gov or because they say their employer isn't paying them enough....doh doh

Living within our means is a lost concept.
Thus........... the financial problems the world is facing today!

Bottom line.....the bottom just fell out of the smoke and mirrors commerce system that is called "Free enterprise". The Western world hates the word, Communism, yet we take pride in helping out our neighbours or family members.....in other words, communism.

Yeah I don't know how I gave you that honour either....confused

I know...and I have always tried to live within my means...it's much too stressful not to...I have seen people stressed right to the hilt and limit over unpaid credit card bills..things they have financed etc...and to me it's not worth it...but then I am not "things oriented" either...I am more of a need person...and rarely spend on myself...wink wave hug teddybear hug bouquet

The only reason why we are communicating at this point, is that we can afford a PC and internet charges. How are we paying for this ?

rasgumby: ........ over 20% interest on a credit card.........thats a hell of a lot of money out the window.

In India its 36% interest on credit cards.
However, I have to say that a credit card is a useful tool if used wisely. Instead of carrying cash it makes more sense to pay by card and settle the card bill in totality - which ofcourse requires a certain amount of discipline. That way there is no interest payable.

people suggest to me to do stuff all the time

i still have choice and i am accountable for my choices

period

no he she or them is responsible for what i do

doh

its this thinking that has permeated society and allowed us to not be accountable because we tell each other and commisserate as to how this and that aint my fault

it disgusts me-its freakin de-evolution-
reverting to group think-for comfort to avoid responsibility
like cavemen
