I was talking to a neighbour today, he asked me how long I've been single. I really had to think about it; it's been 10 years but feels like 2 or 3 years. I would guess that it all depends on the circumstances of the relationship breakdown.

Interesting how love lost can warp time.

They are only as deep as you allow them to be. You can heal and have minimal scars.hug comfort teddybear

Scars may remain, but never allow them to define you. You are 99% beautiful, the scars, 1%. (The world according to Paws)

but the scars make you who you are. Love is a defining moment and draws upon the canvas of who you are and become.

I agree but; never allow another human to own your future, no matter what the past.

We all have been hurt at least once, but we need to forgive him/her and let the pain go, if we keep crying about how bad they were and how hurt we are Then we will just be unhappy (he/her wont keep their breath thinking of how much you are suffering) and will make unhappy people arround us. Life is beautiful, so lets try it once again. teddybear

The only real pressure we have on us is the pressure we put on ourselves. Many define happiness as having to be in a happy committed relationship, but I think the real definition of happiness is being content on your own OR with someone.

Sometimes we put this stigma on people who are single - like, why in the world have you been single for so long, get over it all ready.

Maybe you are over it, but you are content. The worse thing you could do is get into a relationship when you are pressured from others to do so. It has to be a decision you make by yourself, for yourself.

What I don't understand is how people are able to turn love, off and on so easily. Granted I have only been married twice, first 36 years, second 2 years. But I loved these 2 guys and til' death us do part was it for me. Unfortunately the 2nd one was not in it for the long haul.
