Especially after we fall in, on a late night trip to the can!!!!
I really woke my husband in the middle of the night, after one time, when I was on crutches, screetching about it and I was STUCK in the toilet. After helping me out and then to shower for the second time that night, he learned to put it back down and clean up his sprinkles with the chlorox wipes, too.
We never had that problem again. His Parents told him: "NOW you know why when Mama's not happy, nobody's happy".

Ambrose2007: Well, you could make that argument...however, since it seems to matter so much to women - more than it does to me or most men - I would respect their wishes (particularly if she happens to be my Significant Other)
One point in women's favor is that men are generally - almost inevitably - vastly more messy around the toilet with their aerial displays than are women. They rightly, I think, resent that disproportionate mess (which they usually are stuck cleaning up).

Since you're doing this for MF, please be sure to put it up before using...then put it back down afterward. DO NOT leave it down while using if you're standing...that just makes a wet mess (ICK!)

I seriously think men should clean up every little spot, after they make it. Hiding it is worse than leaving the seat up, for me.
