As an outsider looking in i have to say that there has been lots of behaviour from some of the politicians which would be better suited to a school yard - "my candidates more christian than your candidate
" - sort of thing - if it wasnt so serious it would be hilarious and some of the hate campaign stuff beggars belief..........Has anybody told those guys that the whole world is looking in on this?

Sorry Conrad, I don't follow where you're going with this.
Practice whatever religion you want at home, in church and in your heart, but don't govern the population of an entire nation or try to exert it onto another nation just because you believe you have some "moral" obligation to convert or destroy according to a particular interpretation of a "good book".
That can be said of any religion, and any country. Sadly enough there are a great many in the USA that would like to see this very thing happen. I'm not a fan of religion running a state or fascism.
