Reason We're Put on This Earth.... ( Archived) (20)

Ok..the title of this post is supposed to end with a "?" Make that "????.." Sigh..don't you ever wonder why you're being born especially when things aren't going the way you would like them to? Ok..this may seem a tad too dramatic but this is what I always asked myself whenever I feel down in the dumps. And I have to be pretty much way, way down in the dumps to ask myself this mind-boggling question.

I always believe things happened for a reason or that there is always a blessing in disguise or that there will eventually be a light at the end of the tunnel or..you get my drift..but seriously, I'm sure we're all placed on this mysterious earth for a reason. Be it to bring happiness (or heck) to someone's life or just to be one of the numbers of the world's population. Sigh..especially now..whenever I steal a glance at my friends I'll be asking myself "Why am I being introduced in your life? Are we going to be friends forever? And if we're not, then why did our paths crossed?" There's got to be a reason..again, things happened for a reason. Am I supposed to teach them a thing or two and vice versa? Are we supposed to learn someting valuable from each other? Maybe. And if one day, things don't go the way I would like them to, I should really remind myself that God just has other plans for me.

If we turned out to just be a fleeting presence in each other's lives, I do hope that we'll be able to figure out why our paths crossed in the first place. Right now, I'm hanging in there, fighting the evil 'twin' that raged within once in a while. I'm constantly reminded that no one can predict the future. Of course, we also believe that we have to fight for our future, even if, everything have been pre-destined.

maybe you looking at it all wrong maybe the blessing in disguise or that light at the end of the tunnel is not something big, maybe its lots and lots of small thing that people over look all the time. Ok like you are introduced to someone new and you only seen them this one time for only 3 min's tops did thay make you smile, laugh, blush? did you do the same to them? now think of how days would be with out this. The mind starts sliping into the dumps and before long all you can think about is trash. I think this is why paths cross to keep are minds sharp. little things can make big impacts!

Isn't it funny (in a way) that we all have similar thoughts- whether it be male or female- I'm sure these ponderings have existed ever since we first gazed at the stars

In response to: “One day a monk fell down in the snow and cried out for help. Another monk came along and lay down beside him. The first monk got up and walked away.” - Zen Koan

We define our existence through our actions...ask yourself, what primary thing do you share with everyone on this earth...?

Suffering in some form or another. We define our existence through suffering...we often wallow in it, because we know nothing else.

Now, ask yourself, ok. so if everything is suffering and we define it as such, what can I do to redefine it?

The answer is simple...you just do...again...we define ourselves through our actions. Context is only significant to the participant. In the grand scheme of things yes, we really do mean nothing, but at this time, our actions mean everything, because they define the reality around us.

Yeah, that kinda' makes sense... At least in a 'can't quite wrap my brain around it 'cause I woke up at 3:15 A.M. with a headache and I can't really handle anything that deep right now' sort of way.

The way I look at it - and I'm probably over simplifying - is this:

I quit asking "why I was here" a long time ago. Partly because I never got any satisfactory answers and partly because it made my brain hurt to ponder such imponderables and just led to more grief. Now I simply make it a point to see and accept the signs that tell me why I exist.

For instance: Last night, briefly, it was to make Anna choke on her drink in a fit of mirth when she read one of my posts - I know that's a reason because she claimed I almost owed her a new monitor and she had no way of knowing that I'd just bought the lovely Jackson a new monitor a couple of hours earlier - A couple of days ago I could tell that the reason I exist was to build nesting boxes for our Banty hens, because if I hadn't been here they wouldn't have gotten built.

Seems like most of us look for validation in one form or another and so we ask "WHY?" ...Me... Well, I just quit asking and started accepting and recognizing. It might be an over-simplification, but it might be that one of the reasons I'm here is because sometimes things need to be over-simplified...

See? That just proved what I said! You needed a laugh and I was put on this earth to provide one.

In a couple of weeks, when muzzleloading season for deer opens in Tennessee, I'm hoping that another reason I was put on earth is to euthanize a nice fat suicidal doe. If that's not the case then maybe it'll be to make a deer laugh because I slipped in the mud and missed an easy shot.

Or look at it this way: Maybe one of the reasons YOU exist is because I needed someone to laugh at an exceptionally corny joke. (Maybe another reason is that there's a huge invisible poisonous spider lurking in the bathtub where I should be soaking away this migraine, but you're here to save my life because I'm replying to this thread instead.) (Granted, that one's kind've a reach, but you get the idea.)

It's funny, but it seems that I really quit questioning 'why' and started recognizing 'because' just about the time I met Jackson...

I sure hope everybody can do that eventually. It makes it so much easier to get up in the mornings!

thumbs up

Thanks for putting up this question.
So far, I see it the same way as Kansan does. Quite simple. We probably are here for the very moment.dunno I also think we should learn and develop ourselves. So this can be an ever ongoing story.yawn

Yes, I believe we're all here for a reason. Life on this planet and in this Universe is a great tapestry, and we see only our strands and the strands close to us...only the Weaver can see the whole.

I'm also of the belief that we choose to come into being in human form with a lesson plan for our soul, and a soul group that supports us...that soul group is who become your dearest and closest family members and friends. But all are here to grow our souls, ultimately.

Don't despair, Anna. I know that we all have days like this (and weeks and months, even years for some of us)...and this, too, shall pass. If things aren't going the way you like them to, sometimes that's one of your lessons...and when it's learned, things change again.

You're a beautiful and wise woman, and have touched many people on here, I know that. hug

Thank you.

I've come to realize in the last few weeks that I haven't been a very good friend to someone and feel so darn bad about how I treated them. I wouldn't blame them if they never spoke to me again.

If they don't, then it's their loss, not yours. Sometimes things happen for a reason and sometimes they just happen and the reason isn't readily apparent, but if you beat yourself up for it then it serves no reason at all.
