I really like poetry, abstract, surreal or very real does not matter.
I have been sparse with the writing lately as I have someone I send them to instead.
But there is poetry everywhere: Most of what I find, I find in lyrics or as small notes in the pretext of a book, places hidden away, disguised by sounds and beat or incomprehensible due to a language barrier.
This thread is to surpass some of that; please post your favourites here, in original languages and a translation as close to the original as possible. Do not forget to credit the author and the translator, even if by you.
In the name of love, good spirit and longing of hearts I declare this thread opened
Holograf - Singur pe drum (Alone on the road) Romanian language --- --- ---
When the lights been extinguished And when the empty hall’s been closed The spectators have left in numbers You hear the surrounding silence again up close
Tired and sweaty Happy and still fretful The same questions; If we were better today than yesterday?
Strazile-s acum pustii E târziu, e noapte si nu stii Încotro ai vrea sa mergi Câtre care stea sa mai alergi
The streets are now deserted It's late, it's night and you don’t know Where you’d like to go To which next star to run
I am alone on the road now I am alone on the road I am alone on the road now I am alone on the road
Staffan Hellstrand - Lilla Fågel Blå Swedish (My translation) The story behind the lyrics is a very sad one... --- --- ---
It’s called heaven and I have never been there But when I see all the stars in the heaven then I wish you was here You were so poetic and now you walk in another world And I can only say
Come back This world is so wonderful Come back The whole world was so wonderful And it could as well have been me Little blue bird
We were so young and we could not say stop Though the world fell as a card house when we tried to climb up And we never got to tell how we loved each other as only friends can
Kom tillbaks.....
Come back……
You were so poetic and now you walk in another world I think it is called heaven and I have never been there But when I see all the stars in the heaven I wish you was here And now I can only say
Come back This world is so wonderful Come back The whole world was so wonderful And it could as well have been me Little blue bird
