stooie1971: It has nothing to do with having delusions
If you have a need for other people to like and admire you, and yet you tend to be critical of yourself. While you have some personality weaknesses you are generally able to compensate for them. You have considerable unused capacity that you have not turned to your advantage. At times you have serious doubts whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing.
That's what the Barnum effect is too many on here.... You read the post and threads of many on here
IMHO.... that's what I've spotted going on in here for a few weeks....
PS: this not a personal attack on any one person.. it's just an observation

I took it as seeing yourself in things that were being said that were not about you...yet denying those things exist at all when it comes to you....
The Barnum effect is the name given to a type of subjective validation in which a person finds personal meaning in statements that could apply to many people.
The Barnum effect is an expression that seems to have originated with psychologist Paul Meehl, in deference to circus man P. T. Barnum's reputation as a master psychological manipulator who is said to have claimed "We have something for everybody."

I did a thread that sounded like that recently on here...might be one of the ones you're referring to in the past few weeks...but it was really being tongue-in-cheek and laughing at myself publicly. I don't need "validation" from anyone else to feel that a decision I make is the right one...I listen to my heart and intuition, and act accordingly. The rest I leave to the Divine.
