I haven't ever seen anyone around CS who might know much about Florence. I am going soon tho if that's any use. In the meantime, come to Milan instead. I don't think you'll find an Italian disagreeing with you about Italy becoming expensive either. I see prices rise everyday..it's amazing. For example, when I went home to UK in June, a cappucino in a bar was E1, 20, when I came back two months later, it was E1, 40 and rising. dunno

I think the last ones you offend are the Italians, they are the one to suffer most. Yes, they did mess it up a bit...

But I know nothing of Florence, I bought some things made there, but on the Milan airport, so, well... ignorant in this case.

I bid you good night wave

I spent 8 nhrs or so in florence...the number one rule is to get a good road map of the city before you enter the city, otherwise you might feel "lost" at times. There is a maze of streets and some are not even recorded on the best map. There are many attractions to see, but things to do are limited. Restaurants you'll find throughtout the city, the one with best value i can't tell. For me 1 day in Florence would be enough...but then again for a woman 4 days might be too short... wink

I thought that Switzerland was expensive ....... but Italy is more so, in my opinion. I could not get over the prices in the shops there!

My main problem with Italy is that they seem to find it absolutely impossible to FILL a coffee cup!... and I cannot survive on just a couple cms of coffee....!!!!

The secret is to ask for an "Americano" cup of coffee...that's more or less like filter coffee...What i did find expensive in swiss was what they charge for internet...like 4 frank/2 euro for like 5 minutes whereas in germany they would give me over an hour for the same amount... confused

Now that I find very strange! But is that an Internet Cafe type thing? ...... Here, there is just SO much competition .... I got virtually free internet with our phone-line - can stay online 24/7 without any extra charge! I think its a nominal charge something like Sfr40 a month.

Thanks for the tip about the Americano cup of coffee ..... but next time I`m gonna go visit the SOUTH of Italy ... I think that would suit me better. I did not like the Mid-North part where I went.

Yes that's @ a internet cafe...south of Italy didn't impress me that much(it's not as "clean" as the north)...what i did enjoy was the Tuscany area...villages to see...Vinci and st. Stephano...

And in the Early Sixties we used to go Camping in Italy, because CH was too expensive.
