Much has been said these last few months about patiotism. Who is a patriot and who isn't. Well, I can't judge because I can't see what is in another person's head. But let me say this. As an infantry soldier I foight for freedom:

for ALL Americans. I fought for their right to voice their opinions whether I agree or not. I fought for their right to salute the flag or not. I fought for the right to pray...or not. I was willing to die for the right of every American to choose whom they wish to enjoy in the privacy of their homes, sexually or platonically. I swore to uphold the Constitution...which to me meant I was upholding the freedoms of EVERY American, to voice opposition to the government. I fought for the right of all to associate with whomever they wish. I was willing to die for the right for people to assemble in a peaceful manner without intervention from the police. I swore to uphold the belief that all were innocent until proven guilty.

I believe these things apply to politicians as well as their constituants.

I believe that a contry is only a free country when ALL of it's people are free. And as long as one person or group of persons are not free....then we live in a partially free country. I fought for a free country.

hug

I served during peace time under Reagan, but I swore to uphold all of these beliefs, and to die for them if necessary as well. I still would today...and will if I have to.

Thank you for your service, sir. hug

Thank you ship. Very well put.

I would serve and die for my country even now if the call came for me to do so. As it is my oldest boy will proudly join the Marines in June after graduation. I am supporting his decision to offer up himself in the name of freedom and love of country. The greatest and most valuable things in my life are my children. My boy really has made me proud with his decision to serve.

Thank-you all for reading. I just think sometimes it's good to stop and reflect on just what it means to be free.

George Carlin once said.."Am I proud to be an American? No!! I didn't to anything to be proud about! I was born here. But am I Happy that I am an American, You bet your a** I am."

R.I.P. George!!
