mike69spain: China and Taiwan start talks today aiming to secure and manage sea and air transports and solve issues regarding food.
Since China actually recognise Taiwan as a part of China and not its own country this is historical and points even more at a new Asia with stronger local bonds and a common financial platform.
The chief negotiator of China that arrived to Taiwan for the talks is the highest ranking servant of the Chinese government to land on Taiwanese soil since 1949.

You mean "us" here in Europe, "us" in the west or "us" humans?
I see a move of financial control to the east. Problem is that I too see a move of the Islam culture that direction and they merge in Malaysia.
So far, it looks good, but there is one very big issue - we have been working hard to make this world more open for equality between opposites of all kind. Over there this is not at all the case, and where financial control lays politics are decided.
So for "us" it could be a bigger change than we anticipated.

A good move after all, we can introduce ideas to allies in a better way than we can to enemies. We listen better to allies than to enemies.
Since China was let to join the WTO more changes to human rights have been done than ever before.
It is a slow process, the very culture there is not as ours and they do not see the world in same colours. But we are coming together more and more.

For me I have gained loads of freedom since that summer day I left from Sweden to work in Poland.
But.. CH did not change too much in the same period, that's true

I think in this case, the change is more visible on a diplomatic level, relaxed relation between the two countries but less on a civil level among people.
Still, if China is prepared to sign such agreements with Taiwan, they have turned 180 degrees in their opinion of Taiwan. I do not expect them to acknowledge Taiwan as a country yet, though. Too much face to loose there.
