I think its very important to keep ur promises...
becos if you are always breaking them...
then people will not trust in anything you say again..
I know sometimes something comes up and you have to break them..but is always possible to fullfill the promise another time..just let the individual know why you couldnt keep it at that time
I think it's always important to keep promises one would make but... sometimes you may have no choice but break them. All one can do is hope the one(s) you make the promises to that they'll fogive and understand why you broke them.
Just never to make promises you can't keep and keep the ones you do make. In a rare instance that circumstances forced the change then it's understandable.

I try not to make too many promises. If my kids ask me if we can do something, I'll say, "We'll try to do that next weekend," or "we'll see if we can,"...I try not to promise if I'm not 100% sure that I can keep the promise.
Now...I promise not to cheat on someone, or never to lie...that's different. Those I can keep. I've always told my kids I'd never lie to them, and I never have. And as they've gotten older, sometimes that's not easy, either...'cuz I always promised that they could ask me anything and I'd answer them honestly... there are questions they will ask me instead of their dad.
